Description

Woodhead Old-King-Cole

"Old King Coal" is an original scenario by Tom Pallen
for the Woodhead Line, a DLC route for Train Simulator
2012. It takes place in the Wath Yards and
focuses on shunting (switching) activities.

==================================================

Installation Instructions: the usual ...
1) Unpack the RWP file to a convenient location:
I always use the desktop and "unpack" it by simply
dragging it from the ZIP archive.
2) Open TS 2012 and select the Package Manager
tab; if necessary, click on Refresh, then select
the Install button and navigate to the desktop or
other location where you unpacked the RWP file.
3) Click on the RWP file to select it and
then click on Open.
4) That's it!

==================================================

What's in the package:
Of course, the scenario itself, in 2 versions:
in Old King Cole, the player picks up 2 Class 76
engines, while in Old King Cole V2, it pickups a
Steam engine and tender (see comments, below).
Also, several TTA wagons from the UK Wagons #1
Freeware Pack from UKTrainSim, which are used in
an AI train.

==================================================

Comments and advice:
The player engine in this scenario is the Class
08 shunter packaged with the Woodhead Line from
RSC. This engine has two peculiarities. First,
it is extremely subject to "consist tilt" errors,
especially when crossing points (switches), so do
drive carefully and slowly, especially avoiding
acceleration or braking over points. Also, save
even more frequently than usual. Second, the 08's
top speed is approximately 19.7 mph and attempting
to accelerate above this is pointless. I strongly
advise driving this engine below posted speed
limits and never driving above 15 mph except on a
straightaway.
In version 1 ("Old King Cole"), I have used two
Class 76 engines, also part of the Woodhead Line DLC,
as "static" (i.e.: non-driven) engines, but they
refuse to behave as a good static engine should in
that their class markers and their "spark effect
lights" remain on until they are coupled to another
engine. This rather ridiculous condition, which I
hope will be adjusted in a future update, results
in extremely low FPS rates in their vicinity, a
condition that occurs at the begining of the scenario.
As soon as the player engine couples to the 76's FPS
rates will return to normal. If you would rather avoid
this tedious technicality, play "Old King Cole V2",
which substitutes a steam engine & tender for the
76's, instead. It;s up to you!
Finally, a word about language: I am not British,
but I have attempted to use correct terminology and
expressions in this scenario. Please forgive a poor
Yank who is simply doing his best with no intention
to offend.

====================================================

The usual boilerplate: this scenario is provided as-is
without any charge and may be modified and distributed
freely as long as I am mentioned as its original
creator. I am in no way responsible for anything that
happens as a result of downloading, installing, and
playing this scenario.
