12 repaints of the RSC 86ft Auto Parts Boxcars in 10 liveries
RSC 86ft Auto Parts Boxcars
3/18/2021
------------------------------------
This pack contains repaints of the 86ft Auto Parts Boxcar by RSC. These long, excess height boxes have been used since the early 60s by most of the railroads serving the automotive manufacturing industry. American Car & Foundry built the prototype 86-foot high-cube boxcar in 1963. The project was done in collaboration with Louisville & Nashville, Southern Pacific, and Wabash, with an aim to en-hance hauling auto parts for Ford Motor Company. ACF did not stay in the high cube business, but this design did. Almost immediately, other big name car builders began producing these units. Greenville Steel Car Company, Pullman-Standard, and Thrall Car Manufacturing fulfilled the demands of most of the North American roads. But a small number of high cubes went to Santa Fe and Southern Pacific that were built by Pacific Car & Foundry as well.
This pack contains 12 different paint schemes for 10 different road names:
Baltimore & Ohio
Detroit, Toledo, & Ironton
Erie Lackawanna
Illinois Central
Milwaukee Road
Missouri-Kansas-Texas
Norfolk and Western
Ohio Valley System
Penn Central
Wabash

* Harry Adkins made a repaint of the default boxcar in EL livery a while back and he named his folder EL-1. I've named my version EL-2 to accomodate those that already use Harry's repaint.
** Soon after the Wabash took possession of some of their 86 ft high cubes, operations were taken over by the Norfolk and Western. Versions reflecting ownership by both Wabash and N&W were made.
That's it. Enjoy!
