Very nice! !*drool*!

Mike, that's done automatically by the game engine (assuming the nodes and bogie blueprints are done correctly).

No, you just have to get the nodes and blueprints right. The thing is, it's not easy to get it right first time (I had a lot of trouble understanding what was going on the first time I tried it, years ago - you have to get various parameters set up properly, and it's easy to get something wrong and send the vehicle flying into the air when it couples to something).

Hello,

This project is looking really, really good. It looks like you're taking the time to get the model right and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

One thing that I've noticed with many (almost all, actually, even in MSTS) diesel locomotive models is that modelers almost never get the thickness of the truck sideframes right. I've drawn in some arrows to show which basic dimensions I'm talking about on the below drawing:

Dimensions.jpg

If you'd like to see what I'm talking about, pull up the default SD40-2 and compare it to a picture of the prototype--you'll find that the sideframes are almost flush with the wheels and far too shallow compared to the prototype, resulting in a shortened axle and a really weird looking model. Thankfully it looks like you guys have avoided this pitfall (it looks like the bearing caps are in the right position relative to the centerline), but I just wanted to bring this up to make sure. Many otherwise beautiful models suffer from the "narrow truck syndrome," and it would be a shame to see this beautiful work of art befall the same fate!

This all may sound a little obsessive, but you're clearly detail-oriented so I figured you'd understand. !!*ok*!! Great work on this model!

Thanks!

More than a bit obsessive. Have you ever heard of PM or are you just interested in how detail oriented you want to show the community that you are?

Thanks for the input. I know what you're talking about and I've noticed that issue with most models as well (Yup, I'm a rivet counter ;) ). Hence we're using a function called photomatch, where we basically model directly out of a picture we beforehand applied to the scene. Nonetheless. Even using this technic, there's no guarantee for the final model to be as accurate as one would wish it to be but I'm really taking my time with each part to make sure it's as precise as it can be, just like Mike does it on his beautiful FEF-3 !!*ok*!!

I guess it's good to get some sort of constructive feedback considering it might increase the quality of the final product and therefore is appreciated. *!!wink!!*

After almost three weeks of work (gotta blame GE for their unique and complex shape), I managed to get the basic frame for the trucks nearly done.

Hi,

Wow, this is looking really great! You've certainly allayed any of my fears regarding the truck design, and that casting is practically a work of art in itself. I look forward to seeing more progress on this; it might be a bit of a wait but I'm sure it'll be worth it!

Thanks,

Eliot
