Very nice!

Giuseppe wrote:Hello,
This project is looking really, really good. It looks like you're taking the time to get the model right and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
One thing that I've noticed with many (almost all, actually, even in MSTS) diesel locomotive models is that modelers almost never get the thickness of the truck sideframes right. I've drawn in some arrows to show which basic dimensions I'm talking about on the below drawing:
If you'd like to see what I'm talking about, pull up the default SD40-2 and compare it to a picture of the prototype--you'll find that the sideframes are almost flush with the wheels and far too shallow compared to the prototype, resulting in a shortened axle and a really weird looking model. Thankfully it looks like you guys have avoided this pitfall (it looks like the bearing caps are in the right position relative to the centerline), but I just wanted to bring this up to make sure. Many otherwise beautiful models suffer from the "narrow truck syndrome," and it would be a shame to see this beautiful work of art befall the same fate!
This all may sound a little obsessive, but you're clearly detail-oriented so I figured you'd understand.Great work on this model!
Thanks!

Wow, this is looking really great! You've certainly allayed any of my fears regarding the truck design, and that casting is practically a work of art in itself. I look forward to seeing more progress on this; it might be a bit of a wait but I'm sure it'll be worth it!
Thanks,
