The Empire Builder by Buzz Baxter
This latest DLC from Rail Simulator is certainly one of their best efforts. The named train matches perfectly with Marias Pass and will also play well on a couple of other western routes like there was some kind of re-route due to a blockage of some sort. Additionally it will be a great run on the announced Stevens Pass. The exteriors are a treat to the eyes with both the F7s and the cars being beautifully done. The new Mars light on both the F7 and the observation car is a serious upgrade to the simulator. I like the sounds and the horn and bell very much.
“The EMD F7 for Train Simulator is available in Great Northern ‘Empire Builder’ livery and includes the full coaching stock of the famous Empire Builder train, including sleeper cars, dome coach, sleeper observation car and mail baggage car. Features include cab lighting, Mars headlamp and passenger views from the different passenger cars.”
The interior of the observation car is nice, the domes OK and the rest of the interiors are like the creators just ran out of energy. That’s a shame on an otherwise beautiful piece of work.
This D/L includes GN GP9, a Pacific Fruit Express reefer cars, a nice boxcar and a new caboose for the simulator to be used anywhere.
Rating 8.5 because of the interiors. If you don’t care about them than you can give this a solid 9 plus. In any event if you like passenger content and runs this is an excellent offering.
These can be downloaded via Steam a very convenient way to add on to Rail Simulator. Steam pages are a little Obscure to the uninitiated however here is the link.
Add this to your driving experience and come along to join passenger travel on American railroads through the great Northwest part of our Country back in the days when travel by rail was fashionable and luxurious.
