Have ya'll forgotten about the "How to build a Locomotive" tutorial over at The Grade Crossing at Blogspot (PapaXpress's site)? If that don't get your motor runnin', your diesel fuel's got bleach in it.

I've actually been using the How To Build A Diesel Locomotive tutorial quite a lot.



Also later, if allowed to I might see about building a locomotive for RCAP, perhaps a 1930's Baldwin Ten Wheeler steam locomotive.

I'm thinking this would look good in RCAP with also a detailed 3d cab.

I really think there could be room for a default US steam locomotive for later, that's why I'd like to build this one for RCAP if they'd let me.

As for now I'm going to take a break from the body, the trucks and start on the cabview, and then I want to make the couplings and try the engine in the sim.

Um, the dev docs only show you how to put a six axle box on the rails. Thats it.

What part of the tutorial don't you get? Perhaps its something I can modify to read better.

Blueprints, i seem to get easily confused with anything writen out, ill have to read it over and give it another shot. might not even be the tutorial, as i mentioned before i have attention disorder and get confused easily so anything writen out like that is verry overwhelming to me.

I've always been able to figure out something written out after a little of trial and error and practice.

OK, I found another drawing that has the spring positioning really well defined...

Unfortunately at the moment can't do anything on the engine until I can either get a new computer or get this one serviced. It's been running quite bad lately and just barely able to build any scenery without it either crashing or freezing up.

Make backups as soon as possible, before it fails! I say this because my older laptop completely froze last night. I can't even boot it now, just a completely black screen and a few flashing lights around the edge of the keyboard. I didn't do backups of that laptop, so I've lost all my old email and quite a few other things. Luckily though, I don't use it for any modelling tasks, and the ones I do use are backed up every week

This sounds like a power or MB problem. I'd be surprised if you lost the data on your hard drive.
Most probably you can pull out the drive and put it in an external USB enclosure, so you can read it on another computer.

Haven't been able to do anything on it lately because in the process of trying to get this computer to work right again, but I want to do something on it very soon if possible.

It's been a while since I did anything, but here's some progress on the cab interior.

So far, here's the stand for the throttle and the reverser handle.
