Do you mean those? http://store.steampowered.com/app/24052 or this one http://store.steampowered.com/app/24074 *!!wink!!*
I think they are also included if you buy Fort Kent route via Steam (but then again without career scenarios)

Actually, they came with a freeware pack that included some other reskins, such as BC-1 and WC-1. I think I found the link on here somewhere. Frankly, all I really need to know is where to put the files.

Well that was not what you asked for in the first place *!!wink!!* If they came with a freeware pack this pack should also include a readme file with instructions. If it's not there you have to ask the author of the pack on whatever site you got it from, sorry...
As a hint: probably the go into the "RW\Assets\Developer\Repaint" - could be Kuju\SD40\xy or something completely different !*don-know!* !**duh*!!

The .txt file that came with it was translated from either German or Dutch or something and goes: "Hi Rail-Sim Friends!

This is the CN-SD40-2 package is included each 4xCN, 2xBCR, 2xGT and 2xWC locos.
The GT-locos were in the original by Rob Hammock prepared for the MSTS.
The WC-locos are MSTS originals by Model: MLT / Danny Beck Painted by: Dean Kurowski.
Both models were of me for the KRS reworked.
The CN+BCR models are of myself.

The Rail Simulator folder as always in your rail-sim copy home directories."

Where is the rail-sim copy home directory? Do I need to put it in Assets? Or RailSimulatorUS?

These look like Michael Zimmers repaints from the Obo's site:

http://railworks.banal.net/downloads/downloads.html

The 10 roadname folders go in the SD40-2 folder of the RailSimulatorUS section as shown in the zip.

Rail Simulator\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40-2\

I have Railworks2, I would presume the same applies to the ancient " RailSimulator"

Do I need to unzip the folders of WC-, BC-1 etc. into the SD40-2 folder?

User, you will always have to unzip folders, as no program can read the files inside unless you do that.

With Railworks, I just unzip the files to my desktop, then start the sim, and from the opening screen, choose Package Manager, then Import, click on the files I unzipped (sometimes twice) then Import the files.

I don't know about Rail Sim, but it should be similar.

Chris is correct, but in this case there is no ***.rpk or ***.rwp file and no ***.exe file so what I would do.....is, unzip the contents to a temporary folder and then drag and drop the 10 road named folders into the SD40-2 folder that is pathed and shown in my previous post.
Another way is to open the zip, expand the folders in the left pane, left click on the sd40-2 folder in the left pane which will show 10 folders in the right pane. High-lite all 10 folders in the right pane, select extract in the actions menu at top and then navigate your way in the drop down "extract to"..... to the sd40-2 folder in your RailSimulator installation.
Your choice which way.... !*don-know!*
