Unfortunately I got a lovely BSOD this evening on my laptop which is the result of a trashed registry. We have a monster snow storm heading our way so tomorrow should be a snow day so I can try save files from the drive and do a recovery from my server backup. Hope it goes well.....because I hate full OS reinstalls. !*not-ok*!

That's one problem off my list, I am doing that same kind of thing with the SD70ACe Primer.

That's the first thing I noticed! !*roll-laugh*! All kidding aside, this would be a really nice unit to see.

Quick update on my Primer scheme project. The "Ghosts" are coming along nice. Here are some screen shots.

A clean version with Auto Numbering. I'm not happy with the way the number fonts came out. They seem to be be deformed by the model. I decided to leave these for those who really prefer auto numbered units.

More prototypical with painted fixed number.

As soon as I have the ready, I'll package them and get them over to the library for loading.

I've been away for awhile but after the summer sale, decided to dust things off.

I bought the new SD40-2 during the summer sale in hopes to be able to dust off my CN with snow shields project to use the new detailed model with low headlight, however, I was very disappointed to see this model is a texture jigsaw puzzle mess like all the other new TS13 models like the ES44 and F40PH.

Unfortunately I call it unpaintable.

I don't understand why the new model textures are being created so they can't be repainted. Unfortunately its going to limit any future repaints I do. Its unfortunate as it would have been great to do some weathered CN stuff to the newer detailed models but in the end this is a hobby and I'm not going to put in the extra time to decipher the cryptic textures. On the ES44 for example, it has taken me as much time to try figure out what textures to paint for 2 louvers as it did to do any of my other projects in their entirety and I still gave up on the ES44 because I couldn't figure it out.

Hopefully I will continue to find interest in repainting the older models. As for future plans.....time will tell.

It seems that some RSC partner doesn't know how to do UV unwrapping and texture mapping.

I don't usually join in on the bashing however I did the re-paints on the BN GP38-2 and struggled thru it even though when I got done there was a couple of things I still didn't like but I have been working on and off on a complete re-do for another railroad and sheesh! I have drawn squiggly lines across texture pages for hours trying to find some of the fittings and still haven't located some of the stuff. These things are a nightmare. This makes no sense to me because if a person is in love with a particular railroad one of us hobby guys does a re-paint of it isn't that person much more likely to spring for the piece of payware?

Just makes sense to me.
