Well I'll pose these questions for you....

Is there any posts on this or any other forum complaining that it's TOO realistic and that it needs to be dumbed down ? I've not seen any.

Are there posts saying it's realistic enough and to not improve it anymore? I've not seen any.

Obviously my biggest hang up is it's physics as I have stated earlier in this thread. Why not have a button in the OPTIONS menu to kick in BETTER physics? Certainly more options is better then less. Run 8 even has an option for better coupler physics by checking a box called "Mo-Betta Coupler Equations". It uses more CPU cycles, but it's an option should you want it or uncheck it to remain in default coupler equations. There is also a foamer/piglet mode that tells you errors made like breaking a coupler that don't fatally end the run or need fixing. You don't have broken couplers in TS2013 that I know of. Both Trainz and Run 8 have it. I'd like to see that added at the very least as an option.

When they came out with the Xbox 360 controller option with the release 0f 2013, some decried it as dumbing down the sim and complaining they were aiming for the casual gaming crowd. I would say to them...SO WHAT? What did they take away? You still have the option of using the keyboard and mouse. It added an OPTION in ADDITION TO.... not a replacement for. You still can't do everything with the controller anyways. But having the option is nice.

If you want simple controls or more realistic controls...TS2013 allows you the OPTION to choose.
Want automatic coupling or to do it manually?...TS2013 allows you the OPTION to choose.
Want TSX-ON or do you want TSX-OFF? ...TS2013 allows you the OPTION to choose.
Want shadows or NO shadows or anywhere in-between? ...TS2013 allows you the OPTION to choose.......ETC...ETC...ETC.

Since so many things in TS2013 have options.... both important ones and trivial ones..... how about a better physics OPTION button? That's all I'm asking and many others are. Then those that think it's a toy can bump them up and if they are fine with the default.... those people have an option TOO. That's all I'm saying. That's how you address the issue of "we all have a different opinion of how it should play" by being able to tweak it the way you want it to play.

One thing I'm just as baffled about is when they TAKE SOMETHING AWAY that some people liked. When 2013 took away the old legacy Railsimulator HUD display that told you what was up ahead I said to myself...... what the heck??!?! Why take it away?!? I tried it a couple times and never really liked it. But just cuz I didn't like it, why take it away as an OPTION for those people that liked it? It's not like it was some huge detrimental piece of computer code that needed to be done away with cuz it was sucking up vital resources.

So while you are completely right that opinions will vary, giving as many OPTIONS as possible allows all those different opinions to be satisfied as much as possible through customization tweaks.

I am 90% satisfied with Train Simulator 2013, but it's that last 10% that drives me nuts. *!mad!*

Not many here agree with me, so i guess I'm in the minority. *!sad!*

we use elastic bands for couplers so it eliminates this issue !*roll-laugh*!

Not if you use the brit kit couplers.

Physics is up to each individual developer. Just look at the Connie, or Ulf and Maiks RS11 or BR143.

Rubber bands? I was thinking more like STRETCH ARMSTRONG when it came to it's couplers.

I'm gonna give those brit kit couplers a try. I'm just tired of having to reinstall mods after updates. Maybe RSC can use them if they are any good.

Another thing I would like to add to my TS 2013 wish list is give other engines in your consists actual power to contribute to pulling and pushing. Right now they are just rumbling, rolling smoke makers. I'd also like the sim to go 64-bit so that we could load most of the route into our extra memory and try to eliminate object pop-in as much as possible instead of loading off disk or SSDs.

I want lots of stuff... Santa "Railworks" Claus! !!*ok*!!

Speaking of smoke makers.... I noticed on one of the Dash 9 DLC scenarios that the other engines besides the one I was in didn't have smoke coming from them. Anyone else?

Machinist's batch file takes care of mods. !!*ok*!!

I've never been behind the throttle in real life, but I feel that TS2013 is a step in the right direction. It's fun, and honestly that's what I want to have. There *can* be too much complication IMO. DCS A-10 makes my head spin, for instance. It's absolutely awesome what they accomplished, but I still have trouble getting the plane off the ground!

Sometimes options are not an option.
Options almost always mean added complications.
However, options are good!

My head feels more normal today.

Funny you should mention that. I was running a scenareo on Donner and noticed this yesterday. This was with the Donner Pass Dash9, I'll check my DLC ones later.

Sorry about the high jacking, I might have had something to do with that with my random comments.

I have both Trainz and TS2013. TS2013 wins, hands down. There are only a few Trainz trains which even come close, not even considering the routes.

I'm sorry but drifting conversations is inevitable

And why is it so hard to start a new thread? If you need instructions I'll help you.

Well it started about peer pressure from a certain source, and it has turned into a mini Trainsim.com, so any hijacking is good as far as I'm concerned.
