i guess that RSC announcement of the same route isn't so bad as others think. We know that RSC have BNSF license and it's likely to be modern era. So I think first possibility to be different (and attractive for potential buyers) would be another time period, BN or even Great Northern. Second is adding something more to existing route, part of cennecting sub or something that RSC version will don't have. Yes it will take more time, but this can help You from a bit frustration right now. It sad that RSC probably overlooked Your development. From my point of view would be better to cooperate on this, but this needs to be decided in early stages of development, now you both spend many months of work on it. I really don't believe that this move by RSC was planned against anyone here.
IMHO maybe would be better to cool down and continue on your current project (Tehachapi? I'm not sure right now) and wait what will happen. Marias has long and rich history, so I think it's not bad to have two same routes in different time periods. I gues You will make many steam fans happy if You set your Marias to the first decades of the 20th century, what you think? !*cheers*!

oh my, I'm lobbying for mr. Hill right now... *!greengrin!*

I've suggested to RSC we do some BN, who knows if it'll happen though?

I don't remember exactly, but wasn't there an "official" new route poll on RSC's Facebook pages a while back?
Did we actually vote for Maria's Pass?

I also think the independent route builders shouldn't despair when RSC decides to do (part of) the same route. It's a free world after all. When you might have progressed further, you might even have been contracted to work for a cut of the sales.
IMO, committed independent builders often deliver work of better quality, with real attention to detail, to capture the feeling of a particular route.
Commercial builders tend to be sloppy and hasty, we all know which route proves that.

We can only hope that asset creation and route building will be more fun and less frustrating under the current TS2013/RW4.
And that the updated documentation will finally be made available to help new players learning the required skills.
RSC really needs to iron out the many bugs that hamper creators and builders in order to really make an impact and inroads in MSTS' fading US market.

Anyway, success with your route, don't give up now!

I also wonder about what happened to the voting on Facebook but anyway your right about what you said. If you rush through the whole thing, you'll forget that it's actually your hobby and not your work.

Well, the voting was only a couple of months ago. If RSC is releasing "Marias Pass' early next year I wouldhope it's been in development for close to a year or so.

I fully agree with others , i would certainly buy it if it was in a different era or different in some major way. Think about your options and maybe poll the members on what they would like form the route. i am only saying that to maximise your sales, to get something back for the hard hours you guys have done. Could be a big plus for you folks and us, it is a long time ago for me but from memory didnt MSTS have multiple versions of Marias? Could be wrong there. Pete

I personally wouldn't mind using two versions of a route.
Basically I play scenarios. Good standard scenarios are what makes a route interesting for me.

If my memory serves right MSTS used to have 3 Marias Passes (oh its right Passes or Mariasses? *!mad!* )
Default one, very popular Marias v3 (enhanced made from scratch route, longer and better scenery) and also Marias-Kootenai where tracks continue from Whitefish further west, but I don't remember where it ends.

In fact, Boldri, your spelling is a lot better than that of many adults who have English as their native language.

Mullan Pass was the route in the poll. I actually wish they would have gone with it first cuz Marias has been done a few times in MSTS and Trainz. Wouldn't mind the Feather River route in Railworks either. Hack made one for MSTS, but I've kinda moved on from MSTS.

Michael was working on the feather river canyon but he has not posted any news about his progress or whether he still wants to continue working on it.

I find it weird that they had a poll in November of what future routes we'd like to see and they choose one that wasn't on the list of choices. Now they did preface it saying they might not make any of the routes they listed. I just didn't expect them to ...in the end... NOT choose one of the routes we were voting on. !*not-ok*!

They listed Mullan Pass in Montana as a choice and gave us Marias Pass from the same state that wasn't. Just very odd behavior on their part. !*don-know!*
