GSkid wrote:But for some reason even though I never touched them, the cars on the track near mine EXPLODED into a physics tornado, That is.... they started rushing up in a string into the sky like they were being sucked up by an invisible tornado. Then they would come crashing down. And when I pushed PAUSE and then pushed CONTINUE, it would re-agitate the cars into the sky while taking even more cars from other tracks each time. CRAZY!!

I have seen the train tornado myself a few times, and I keep hoping that they find and fix the problem. At one point I sent them RSC a saved game state that on my machine would easily reproduce the problem on the Donner Pass route, but evidently it didn't get fixed in 2013.

As a software developer I can take a guess that the problem is that a signed integer variable has overflowed, so instead of a large positive number it suddenly becomes a large negative number. This sort of thing has happened in the real world - the first test flight of the Ariane 5 rocket resulted in an explosion for exactly this reason:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ariane_5#Notable_launches

But the underlying cause could be something else entirely different, I guess.

More screenshots from RSC's facebook page. I wonder how much overall is complete now? Seems like they're making some progress.

It's looking really good. This route always had so much potential. I'm glad they're sorting it out.

It sort of looks like they are working on the sections near Reno/Sparks. And if they were working it from one end to the other, it implies that they are getting close to done. Even if that's true, there would be some Q/A on the thing to look for nits and issues, and then re-test all of the scenarios.

No target release date or deadlines AFAIK. The team has not finished laying track and signals and scenery. Once they are done with that scenarios have to be remade, retested, etc.

*!!thnx!!* Derek, I was disappointed at first on how Donner Pass looked, but looking at what y'all are doing now restores my faith in your company and it's customer service. Thank you for taking the time to update Donner Pass.
