TS2013 - F3 missing Hud - Use TAB for Signal Indication

Unread postby SteveTRM » Sun Sep 23, 2012 10:38 am

Like everyone i'm missing the F3 hud for signal indication, my work around is to use the TAB key which normally is used to pass red signals, if i come across a yellow signal i wait till i've passed it then press TAB to check next up comming signal, if its still yellow / green then you get no info, but if its red you get the permission to pass pop up informing you there is danger ahead.

I know its not perfect but it works :)

Also

For all of you that experience graphic glitches, missing tracks etc - Clearing the cache will sort it.

TS 2013 isnt perfect but RSC have done a suberb job :)

Cheers

It's not that you're missing the f3 hud, it's actually because they completely took it out of the game.

Or you can enable the work order and the keys on the right side of the screen will tell you if a red is coming up, as the buttons with the phone and arrow on it are the TAB and CTRL-TAB keys, so when you see the image light up, you know a red is coming.

And yes, I would have preferred the old F3 hub to still be there.

This is the one biggest thing I don't like about the new version!
I didn't use F3 that much so I thought, but needed it to do quick checks on the upcoming signals and even the distance to it. If they could come up with a little indicator up in the corner of the screen maybe by the F5 hud that would work. I drive with my F5 on all the time. F4 rarely gets used. Now it seams to me they took out the F3 and made two F4's. Whoopy. Big mistake.
The other thing that they did wrong was ruin the joy of running steam. I want the full control back at least some indicators that my dampers are open full or partly showing 10% 20% 30% etc. Same with water injection. I would get my water amount set and shoveling at a certain % depending on need. Now it's either on or off. Bull! Most of my driving is staem only. Now I find myself not wanting to play much anymore. Sad. *!sad!*

As noted in another thread, the 2D map shows signal states on most routes.

I for one am very pleased with the new F3 (shorter than F4, probably the price to pay for having the Game Pad thingy). I never liked the next signal aspect in the old fashion F3, it made loose the surprise factor (red, yellow or green? when you were at there). Whether you follow signalling rules you don't need to know the next aspect till you are close enough to it (not to mention that you have the zoom feature, either from in cab and headout views to see the signal aspect a bit more in advance).

Yea. That too. Almost forgot. That might even be more important.

I must admit I'm not that worried about not knowing what the next signal is. But knowing about speed changes is kind of useful and the new F3 does not display all speed changes.
