RW 2013 Improvements

Unread postby ChuckF » Sat Sep 22, 2012 3:29 pm

Hi! Does anyone feel that RW 2013 has improved the engine/train physics of NA content. I have reached the stage where I don't feel like buying more DLC unless train physics are improved. Any comment on this issue? Cheers; Chuck F.

Hi

Well, from what I've tried so far, Dynamics feel much better but I feel the locos might be somewhat overpowered on the Sherman route.

The sound improvements are impressive in the new locos, not certain they did all locos.

IMHO, it's worth consideration.

sherman hill is only a small grade so locos will feel overpowered on it, 1.8% is hardly a grade so it just feels like that.

Hi! Thanks for the replies, guys. I know the dynamics needed work, but I was hoping that there would be bigger improvements in over-all handeling. Cheers; Chuck F.

I would be surprised, because they would have said something about it, with all the people clamoring for it.
Instead, they said they were still working on physics.

note that on the new SH locos (locos only that is) they fixed the springy coupler issue....maby we just need to copy those to the rest of the rollingstock?

About the sound improvement I can add that in my Challenger Steam Excursion Scenario (which is a copy of Sherman Hill standard #6 with Challengers and passenger stock) there is also nice reverberation/echo with the Challenger going through tunnels, along rock faces and when passing other trains.
The sound mixer still gets overloaded I think, so when there are too many sounds going off at once, some will fall silent instead of the loudest sound drowning out the others.
Perhaps a dedicated EAX sound card is able to handle more, but since I use onboard sound I can't tell.

Yes, you can substitute the other DLC's couplers for the new ones off Sherman Hill, there is even a choice: with or without brake hose animation. The ES44 have the hoses, the other is without. Haven't tried myself yet all of my DLC use the same stiff Britkits couplers.
