With all those gizmos and levers to operate, and screens to watch, I'm surprised the engineer has the time to drink coffee....... !*roll-laugh*!

You can't beat the old steam days, lots of bacon and eggs on a steam shovel, straight inside the firebox for 30 seconds, and breakfast is ready, yummy....... !*salute*!

It's pretty much all Canadian widecab locomotives. That's why there's a joke that the Canadian railroads don't like to have their power off home rails. Since other railroads would take the microwaves, replace the seats (since the Canadian ones are better, softer, whatnot), etc. *!lol!* There's truth to this as someone I know who works for a railroad can verify this happened once or twice. *!lol!*

Exhibit A: This cab from CN #2404 (C40-8CM) (complete with "I Love French Canadians" crew graffiti): http://www.flickr.com/photos/spacecamp/ ... otostream/

Hot plate with pot sits on the refridge and the microwave is behind the conductor seat.

As for the QNS&L SD70ACe cab's being so comfortable, it's because the QNS&L runs one man operations on their trains. And the location they run, the windshields get plastered with bugs. Reason for the wiper fluid.
