I was wondering has any body any information on these problems I am having with Railworks, headlights not bright enough, sound breakin up badly as trains run and why cannot I get my steam engines to run faster as with some routes I cannot manitain a scheduule bewteen stations because the engine do not go fast enough, example speed limit 70 mph the best I can get is 30-40 miles if anybody is interested in this problem I can try to get a specific route.
!*hp*! !*hp*!

I'm working on a solution for the headlights. It drives me nuts that's they nowhere near bright enough too. The sounds leave alot to be desired. I had a quick look at increasing the fade distance a while ago. A few guys have achieved it so I'll see what I can find out. I'd like to apply the same fade to the crossing bells too. As far as steam engines go, it is possible to get results with some VERY skilled driving. It just takes time and practice to get to know the engines' sweet spots. Try driving with the HUD on 'F5' and monitor the steam pressure closely. You'll figure out where the power is hiding soon enough.

With a steam engine, just get it into full regulator as soon as you can and adjust the *reverser* to change speed/stop using so much steam/etc - otherwise you'll get issues with back-pressure which will stop you going faster than a certain speed. If you're making too much steam and you'd be going too fast if you used it all, make less steam! ( close the dampers and let the fire die off a bit ).
