Cascadian freezes TSC on opening

Unread postby TplMeads » Sat Jul 08, 2023 11:46 am

Hi all.
I haven't visited the Cascadian route in over a year. I just found that trying to play a scenario, editing a scenario, or even the route itself, it just hangs on opening (while showing some splash screenshot) and does not move anymore. Even the sliding bar at the bottom stops. It just freezes and sits there until I force close it via Task Manager.
I've tried to clear the cache and reinstall it. No joy.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any known solutions?

There was a scripting issue discovered from one of DTG’s latest game updates. Many of the G-Trax routes were affected. The issues seem to affect 64-bit the most. Have you tried running Cascadian with TSC 32-bit?

I have. Same result.
And I just tried to do the same with Stevens Pass and B&LE. Stevens Pass behaves in the exact same manner, but BLE opens Ok in the editor.

DTG, working with G-Trax, are preparing an update patch. The problem is in the way the recent updated game reads signalling scripts in the G-Trax routes. This update was due “in a couple of days” earlier this week.

I can open all of the links in my browser. Try a different browser. I have heard that there is some high strangeness going on in the lower 48 as of late.
If you can download from the direct links here are the instructions.
For the Hi-Line:Add the "HiLineAssetsRailNetwork.ap" file to the "RailWorks\Assets\VNHRR\HiLine" path.
For VNHRR-Springfield: Extract the RailNetwork folder from the "RailNetwork.zip" file to the path "RailWorks\Assets\VNHRR\Springfield" and replace all files.
For Stevens Pass: Add the "StevensPassAssetsRailNetwork.ap" file to the "RailWorks\Assets\GNTX\StevensPass" path.
If you can't I will put them in drop box for you.

The issue appears to be that RWA is truncating the links and replacing parts with …, which of course will return a bad URL. Try this link for the Stevens Pass patch; you can find the rest under the “Patches” section of the Train Sim Classic category.

Or just go to Trainsimcommunity -> TSC -> Patches.
You'll see them immediately.
