I am very happy to hear from DTG themselves that not only are they still going to be making content for and supporting TSC but they are actually going to update it with possibly a new UI, better error handling, DirectX update, and other modernizing improvements. Over the past year and a half since I got back into playing TSC, the only core game update has been the name and logo. In a way that was nice because we always knew what to expect, but I always felt TSC has potential to be so much more. I assumed that updates to the core game were done. But today there is new hope that DTG finally understands that TSW is not and will likely never be a complete replacement for TSC.

Here’s to a bright future for TSC!

Very admirable, it's great to see that they see a future for the sim, but does anyone else get the pucker factor in the mentions of twiddling under the hood. Past experience, not just with TS has demonstrated that that rarely seems to end well.

Good luck and I am looking forward to seeing how it all turns out. I for one am greatly interested in the management of rolling stock.

This is good news. The fact that DTG is willing to allocate development resources and dollars to TSC tells me they see a future for the product. There will probably be some hiccups along the way. But if those hiccups mean product longevity, I'll deal with them.

This is the most refreshing post from DTG ever.
I for one will not mourn the passing of Scaleform.

Typically I'd be excited, but this looks to me like a response to SimRail's play test success.

A couple of the things listed I could see happening (better detailed crash logs, for example - or a new UI), but nothing like multicore support.

I suggest you discuss this with DTG like he suggested instead of just complaining here.

As Buzz rightly suggests, meaningful input can best be addressed to DTG (the article suggests comments via forum). As for "but this looks to me like a response to SimRail's play test success," entirely untrue. DTG's assessment and planning on means to enhance TSC has been a lengthy and well-structured approach which began long before "SimRail's play test success."

I just find it oddly timed and coincidental, that's all.

A system for managing assets is certainly good news. I would like:
- easier ways to swap rolling stock in scenarios
- a way to standardize parameters, e.g. a set of good parameters and scripts for 26RL air brakes, that you could copy to all yous assets equipped with 26RL brakes.

Further to my earlier post, I would like go see a. Enter way of creating consists, similar to the old msts one, where you can see images of the rollingstock, consist length and tonnage.

Given the scope of work being touted, I dont think a reasonable cost to upgrade would be out of line either
