DXTbmp Troubles...again - Help Needed Please

Unread postby hobo1960 » Sun Sep 25, 2022 10:25 am

G'day,

I'm once again trying to work on my repaint projects but now DXTbmp is not saving my Alpha Channel changes - no mater what I do:

1. I reinstalled
2. Ensure Administrative rights

etc...

BTW, I'm using DXTBmp v4.00.97 if that helps.

No matter what I do it won't keep my alpha changes, which is ruining my efforts.

Can someone please advise? Is there perhaps another tool that would let me edit the alpha channel?

Thank in advance for any guidance/assistance.

BTW,,,,

Here's my new efforts that I am hoping to share here. I wasn't able to share any screenshots of them in game as the alpha ruins them...sigh

How are you creating your alpha channel, what are you naming it, and where are you importing it from?

When I open the converted TGPcx in DDS file, I click on the alpha channel and it opens inside PSP9. I then paint it full black and save the .temp file -- hit Refresh the image in DXTBmp (which now correctlty shows my updated alpha) and then save. But after I save, exit and then review the DDS again, the alpha is once again, all white....argh.

I suggest you save the alpha channel somewhere (I have a folder called paint stuff where I can save alphas for later use) And then after you open the whatever.bmp in DXTBmp you import the alpha from wherever you have it stored and I'll bet when you save that as a .dds that the alpha will be there like it's supposed to be.

Alas....no. Did not work.

Is there any other tool that allows one to edit alpha channels.

It's frustrating, to say the least, as it worked for me months back.

So you are telling me that you open the like GTW X200 main2car2.BMP and then import the alpha that you had saved, in my case it would be trans X200 main2car2 like pictured here and you then save it as .dds in my case DXT5. You then take that and import it using RSBinTool and save it. You then go back open that TgPcDx and export it, open it with DXTBmp and the alpha is not there?

If that's all true PM me just one of your texture files and let me see what happens when I go through that procedure.
