I paid to see Woody Herman and his orchestra play in 19 something something!

Some of the more mature guys have made their musical interests known. I do believe I outed myself already when I played Lawrence Welk.
Below is a link to something that actually 1. fits with this industrial thing I have and 2. is swell for route building. But first a little background: The Seeburg Background Music System was used to provide 'Mood Music' in the days before Muzak was generally available. The SICM could play any type of 78 RPM record, while the others used specially produced, 16 2/3 RPM records provided by Seeburg. The record sets were leased by Seeburg to the owner of the machine, could only be placed into service on the date specified on the carton, and had to be returned after a specific period of time. Seeburg offered several different sets of music, tailored towards holidays, type of music, etc. The recordings were generally instrumental covers of recently popular tunes, by unnamed groups.
Im sure some of you guys actually heard a Seeburg. Note this is not the Muzak System. Muzak was delivered across the nation with dedicated telephone lines, and later satellite broadcast. From the local telephone office, Muzak was normally delivered to the end-user through more telephone lines, or sometimes through an FM Sub-Carrier Audio (SCA) broadcast. The Seeburg is an on-site and stand alone device.
Point one: I listen to this while route building - it is continuous play and 100% instrumental.
Point two: this reminds me of Grocery Store Music and I am sure some of our consignees out there had this playing.
Point three: the music was created from the 1950's through the mid 1980s, some of the arrangements are lively and unexpected. The version of "Honky Tonk Woman" by the Rolling Stones is both outrageous and strangely listenable at the the same time.
Enjoy:

Carry On!
