TS2021 announced

Took all of 5 minutes to update. So far so good, checked the route I am working on and didn't find any issues. Ran a couple of scenarios from RWA and those went fine as well. I'll wait a little longer probably until tomorrow then I'll archive off my backup I made early this morning.

It would be really nice if DTG actually did something productive for the game. My update was a whole 8mb. So new splash screens and moving the workshop button. Wow what an improvement. It is frustrating how people have given them actual feedback and tell them about issues and they turn a blind eye to it. DTG is so incompetent and needs to understand that this game needs improvement. They need to just make it open source at this point. People in the community can do far more for this game than DTG has in the past 5 years.

The only reason this simulator is great / still alive is because of third-party content. Just saying...

My updates (I have 2 accounts) loaded then on launch I was asked to “Please login to Steam” so I un logged and re logged, tried to launch and message repeats. Shutdown and restart gives same useless result (on both accounts). Ticket submitted, not holding breath.

That is probably true. TS2021 and subsequent versions were good because we the end users were allowed to make decision on our own like 3rd party content and the use of a editor.

In case the last release would have been 10 years ago the sim would not have been available on steam and be dead.

Game is great. I enjoy it every time. It could be a better sim, and it could be worse sim, but it is what it is and I am enjoying it

Just saying :-)

You clearly do not understand what I am saying. The only reason it is alive today is because of third party devs. Don't know what a release 10 years ago has to do with it. If only you knew about the stuff that's hidden in the game that DTG has never even touched when making their products.

I am glad it is clear to you that I do not understand you :D I am just saying that in case the developers had released the game 10 years ago (think DTG stepped in late previous decade) and then stopped support & development it would not be on Steam and the game would be dead and we would not be playing it today.

If you're looking to get this for the WCML, don't. Very clearly rushed to completion and full of obvious bugs, and the Northampton Loop, which almost all local trains use, is missing in its entirety. If what I've heard is correct, then the route was still not ready for release two days ago and was missing critical things, such as catenary in areas. Here's an assortment of what you can expect on the route:

As much as I want it to be good, this year's offering is a pretty poor show all around. Core update is basically just a splash screen and slightly reordered menus, with no fixes for some core bugs. Routes themselves again are a pretty poor offering, the German route's signalling is more than a bit broken and Fife Circle is pretty poor when it comes to scenery trackside. If you've got any interest at all in the routes, save your money at least until the next big sale. As it stands I'd say it's barely worth the price especially for the deluxe edition.

Edit: may as well throw some broken signalling in as well

Looks like the team has some work todo. Do they typically issue fixes shortly after a release to fix thing like these ?

Not usually, especially when there's this much work to fix. Make the content and move on has been their usual tactic, sometimes promising updates that never come.

Think they learned from that. Hence the new "road map" they are using for TSW2. I do not play that game but do like the "road map" system they are using.

DTG Sam just stated a possible "TS road map" is being discussed.

Best get used to DTG's business model and buy the new routes in a 50% off sale and/or wait for the community to fix the most glaring errors.

I am probably glad the Steam Workshop got fixed. I bulk unsubscribed from all the items, but find in TS2021 they are still listed in the menu, but without those nagging OOM errors. Hopefully these will stay away when I subscribe to new Workshop content.
