Very nice repaints buzz456.

I have been driving on this route with VRC's C39-8 locos and some other VRC rolling stock too and I must say that VRC and SS / JR stock will fit nicely with this route. To bad a CSX or an update version of the Clinchfield loco skins where not created for this loco.

My take away is that this route is very well built and detailed. They could update the location markers with the actual locations and not teleport to the middle of nowhere. But, it's not a deal breaker. The route does fit the region pretty accurately. Can't wait to see expansions for this route in the near future.

As for the operational part of the route, I can't see why the mine companies placed tipples directly on the main line. If someone can enlighten me about these, that would be great.

Buzz - All these are absolutely brilliant. Just what I need. Can't wait to put them with some of those CSX locos!

Thank you ever so much.

Perhaps if you would post this over in the Model/Repaint Suggestions section someone might just make something for you. If you do please post picture or two so someone would know what you want.

They look great Buzz! I’ll be replacing my coal hoppers with these. Any sense of how they differ weight-wise from the default? Have you been able to do 1:1 replacements of default stock while keeping the same power configurations?

One thing I find with the SS/JR rolling stock is that it can be hard to always do a 1:1 swap with default stock as they tend to have higher (more accurate I assume) weights than default stock.

These are adjusted from the original to what seems to be a good pretty real approximation. In other words what some have suggested to make them not so heavy as they were originally.

Ottertail wrote:I really like the route. I’m also from ‘across the pond’ and have never had the opportunity of visiting this part of the U.S. However, based on the ‘Coal Story’ video which is centred on this stretch of the old Clinchfield, the route seems to have captured the feel and atmosphere of the place. I particularly like the ground textures and the route specific assets. I’m not too concerned about the motive power as I will run the route set in the early CSX period.

I set up a short scenario based on a CSX Nora turn from Noralla Tipple to Phillips Yard on a misty autumn morning. My only disappointment is the lack of ‘Clinchfield’ names and reporting marks on the coal hoppers but hopefully somebody will do a repaint in due course. I did try to do them myself but it wasn’t very successful!

Hey Ottertail, mind if I ask which SD40s those are and where you got the repaints?

that looks amazing. those skins from here?

This is really embarrassing but I cannot remember! I've looked back at all my downloads and cannot trace them. I'm sure they came from here so I'm sure somebody will identify them. They use the Kuji 'Black' SD40-2 as a base model and appear in TS as “SD40-2 CSX-8058”, “SD40-2 CSX-8207” and “SD40-2 CSX-8321”.

Sorry I cannot be more specific.

Thanks Buzz. I've now installed them and they look great. I've also downloaded your CSX repaints of the Jointed Rail 100t hoppers and they go perfectly with the route. Thanks again.

Well found Rod! I had forgotten all about those. That explains why I couldn't find them on here.

Many thanks
