Not likely. But I'm sure it won't be long until someone repaints the JR SD40-2 into Clinchfield colors.

Looks great and it’s something quite different again from recent route releases, I love that we are getting a nice variety of North American routes.

Looks like some decent weathering on the rolling stock too which is nice to see.

I'm really excited about another all-American route for TS2020. In fact, the Clinchfield was one of my suggested route in a long-ago survey. It looks like the route will have all we need to create fun scenarios and what the route lacks, we can create.

Getting my credit card out...

This new US route looks pretty well built going by the screenshots. I was a little taken back that DTG was only doing the Northern part of the route and not the whole thing. I'm sure someone here can make an extension all the way to Spartanburg in the stated date or even a modern version of this route too.

Also, I'm sure others will do reskins for JR/SS SD40-2s and Coal Cars for this route too.

Also, wondering if there are certain assets (looking at you, Coal Mine Buildings) that are locked or unlocked... Talking about the large coal mine sites that where featured in the NS Coal Division Route.

It turns out they were not locked. The problem was looking at the wrong asset.

I for one am looking fwd to it. Great era, not so common RR considering TS common stuffs. As well as being from the south, having family and local ties to Appalachia - im geeked about it

The fact its done by DTG doesnt make me feel 'safe' about it ( looking at you Granger)

But the media shots look spicy

Not to mention the power, unless its a typo we dont have some of these

Interesting era they picked. I had to read into a bit, but afaik (now) in the early 80´s it was already the Family Lines System (and still they were running around in the old colours???). From ´82 on it´s the Seaboard System. Even early CSX operations in the late 80´s / early 90´s seem convenient with this route. So, to me it looks like there are a lot of possibilities of different liveries of locos and rolling stock. Even more so with all the RR´s that were still around back then and moved their freight over this route.

I´m hooked !!*ok*!!

I saw the CSX Kingsport Subdivision mentioned in the article. I vaguely remember there being a good Kingsport route back in MSTS...not sure if the area modelled is similar to this route or not.

There was freeware route in MSTS called Blue Ridge Subdivision of CSX (Clinchfield), but it was so long time ago, I don't remember the details

I'm really looking forward to this one. One of the first North American railroad videos I bought was ‘Coal Story’ back in 1992, produced by American AltaVista and released in the UK by SPV. It is a fascinating video covering the section of the Clinchfield line from Dante VA to Elkhorn City KY and was filmed in CSX days (possibly 1991-92), covering most of the coal movements on that stretch of line, with both loads and mtys. It is an interesting and often humorous 2 hour programme with information not only about the railway workings but also the coal industry in the area.

One of the highlights of the programme was Haysi #1, probably well-known to many on here as the cab-less F7B unit (former CRR #852) with porthole engineer’s windows and control stand. When the video was recorded, it was paired with a GP9 (#923) and still working at the Greenbrier tipple although apparently only at weekends. Surely, an opportunity for someone to reskin a B unit in #1’s very faded yellow livery!

It’s good to see that DTG have included both the Haysi and McClure branches although I hope they capture the huge size of the complex at McClure. Some of the older tipples in the video were quite ramshackle, including those still working, and again hopefully DTG will reflect this. I just hope it’s not all too clean and tidy. Although the add-on is set at the end of the Clinchfield era, most of the infrastructure should be the same for the early 1990s when a wide variety of liveries of CSX and its constituent railroads can be used. I can’t wait!
