I just bought this and I'm sorry I did.I asked for a refund as soon as I saw it. It was the most amateurish model of the loco I've seen in a long, long time .

Would you mind giving a few facts or reasons why you say this and not just trash the thing? !!**sorry**!!

A very helpful review (not).

The screenshots in that dovetail article don't look very appetizing to me unfortunately, the model seems 'flat' on the outside, truck sideframes have a weird proportion.

Now, if Dolzall provides proper front and side views in high resolution screenshots, we can judge the model before buying it ....

I bought it, I like it, I can't imagine refunding it.

Flat? I don't think so.

There's a lot of unbaked textures across both the loco and the Comets.

(Trucks being the most obvious on the loco)

The panel lines and accompanying normal maps look like they took a trainiax-like drawing and ran it through a Normal map plugin for PS.

The headlight flares and accompanying lens flare tomfoolery is still obnoxious like JJ. Abrahms directed the film.

There's a lot of smoothing group errors across the models, as well as the interior of the cars showing a UV channel assignment issue for the normal map resulting in strange artifacting along the interior walls and ceiling.

They need to quit using such flat specular maps too, it makes it look like it's made of PVC. Though the lack of weathering has a lot to do with it, there still should be more noise to what's occurring on the spec map than there currently is rather than a consistent colour.

I'm sorry, but the detail is awful. Groups like Smokebox and Searchlight are stepping the game up with detail and realism, and this is going completely in the opposite direction in regards to improvements. I truly think this needs to be a wake-up call for DTG and the group that made this to revamp their efforts in creating much more realistic content than this.

And this has been the case with many DTM models of late, flat modeling, murky textures, cut and paste and economizing in the wrong areas.

Thanks for this.

At least inside the cab it looks better and all the effort that Minerman has put in the scripting hopefully means operating fun and challenge.
