Always happy to snipe (at others' products), always short on details (facts). The sounds were indeed recorded from Caltrain equipment.

Yes, I’m no engineer, and have only been in the cab of a GO MP40PH while it was stationary in Willowbrook yard (which was super cool in it’s own right), so i guess my comments are more relevant to exterior sounds , but they sound to me like the prototype and give me a great sense of immersion.

I have no hesitation in getting annoyed with DTG when they put out crappy sounds, and frankly in TS2020 I do replace as many sounds as possible with aftermarket products. However, I will also give them kudos when they create something very good, as they have done here.

Whatever, Gary.

In my playing with it and subsequent refund, it sounds alright.

I'm sure whatever "facts" I'd post, you'd as per usual disagree with them so I won't even bother. Recording something off of the prototype is one thing, properly mixing what you recorded is something different but then again.. what do I know... clearly I can't tell a 710 and 645 engine apart (oh no wait nvm I can..) If you can't take a bit of humour I suggest you don't comment and If you have anything further to say (specifically to me), feel free to PM me.

There is often something off with the sound, as the sound engine in UE4 doesn't seem to be very powerful.

When you move your view around, the sound in the cab changes, I hear the Diesel only when I look backwards, you can hear birds chirping over the 'roar' of a Diesel running full throttle.

It might be a feature, this directional sound, it might be a bug or an inherent weakness of the sound engine. I don't know.

I've posted this before. You can thank me later. It made a tremendous difference in the sounds in TSW.
A temp fix for the quiet sound
Seen quite a few say sound is low this is meant to help for temp fix until they sort it going to try this.

There is a temporary fix for the quiet sound. You can edit an .ini file to increase it.

Navigate to the folder
<mydocuments>\My Games\TS2Prototype\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
and open the file
GameUserSettings.ini

I have my settings as follows:

MasterSoundVolume=3.500000
MusicSoundVolume=1.500000
SFXSoundVolume=3.500000
AmbienceSoundVolume=2.500000
DialogueSoundVolume=1.500000
ExternalAlertVolume=1.500000
MenuSFXVolume=1.000000

You can play around with these to find something that suits you.

Personally I think the Caltrain route is really whats keeping the American market above water for TSW. My system can't handle TSW but it looks to me like the Caltrain route and this mp36 are fairly decent, all else considered...

So they were able to make the EMD Microprocessor interface functional on the British Class 66, but not the MP36PH-3C? So much for “Feeling the Detail” I guess.

MP36PH-3Cs use a Wabtec/Q-tron QES3000 diagnostic panel on the back wall, but I digress that it is indeed a detail missing considering they had the prototype to fiddle with all day long and take down notes from.

American content will always take a backseat to British content but that's just the nature of having a bunch of British train enthusiasts in charge. The same would apply for anyone else.

I am quite pleased with the pack. DTG has done a good job at capturing the equipment, both from the passenger car side and the locomotives. The sounds are pretty close to what I remember them to be, and the train handling is good. Had an enjoyable run taking a bullet down to San Jose. Now if only DTG will expand the route all the way down to Gilroy... and include some UP SD40-2's for the Logan rock job.
