Win 10

Postby buzz456 » Mon Jul 29, 2019 8:21 pm

Hey folks,
I’m getting ready to build a new rig and am finally going to take the plunge and going to win 10. Is there any reason to spend the extra money to buy the pro opposed to the home version?

Our IT at Williamsburg Technical College swears that the Pro versions are more stable.

I run Windows 10 64 bit home and have no issues with it. The latest version 1903. Have been using the Home version since it first came out with no issues. Decide for yourself here. https://gadgets.ndtv.com/laptops/featur ... res-718532 If you are just a home user Windows 10 Home is for you.

I have Win 10 Home also. Got it when they introduced, no problems at all. Does everything I need.

It depends on how you want to interact on a technical level with Windows. Home is excellent for most users.
I use PRO on one PC, so that I can use certain features of windows (group policy management/editor, bitlocker features, etc) and can edit them easier than in Home.
Both versions are stable and it really depends on how far you want to delve into the inner workings of Win 10.
Home is probably what you need.
This is a good article https://gadgets.ndtv.com/laptops/featur ... res-718532 and https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/windows ... ome-vs-pro

Note: I use Pro because I purchased a PC that came with windows 8 Pro and upgraded to win 10 pro for free.

It is possible that you can still get Windows 10 for free and activate it with your Windows 7 key. Do a Google search.

There are a number of tweaks to make W10 similar to W7 on your desktop. You can get the familiar control panel and other pages. Do a google search.

Yes I have a laptop with Win10 and I have I think it's Classic Shell on it so there is no difference hardly from 7. I thought that was one of the sillier things they did with 10. Messing with the look change just to be messing with something.
