The New York Central Hudsons were a series of 4-6-4 "Hudson" type steam locomotives built by the American Locomotive Company and the Lima Locomotive Works from 1927 to 1938 for the New York Central Railroad, and designated J3 with variants. This package created by DSGDDR (Darlan Gomes) has been under construction for several years and with the help of his friend RailWanderer (John Williams) the Hudsons came to life. The package includes both the J3a and the Dreyfus streamline versions, both included working valve gear, physics, detailed cabs, which LoganTMT helped with the information to build the cabs,. The package is offered by DSGDDR for the enjoyment of the Train Simulator community as freeware, as intended by the original organizer jpetersjr (Jonathan Burton Peters Jr) .

I just downloaded these wonderful locomotives. First, the installation itself was flawless. I am very impressed by the detail and the operation characteristics of the Hudsons. Physics are great,in the 10 minutes of running time I have used them. These are now some of my favorite steamers in any train simulator. Great work!

Sorry but I just have to ask... !*roll-laugh*!

Any chance we can get a PT-6 tender to run with these things in the future? It's essentially a UP centipede tender with the water scoop and a much longer coal bunker.

Did the cab sound issue get resolved on this or is the fix still to edit the engine file?

John that's one hell of a tender, the PT-6 was considered at one time, but eventually got the axe as this is a freeware project and Darlan had already moved on to his own projects. Thanks for the suggestion.

I guess you'll have to download the files and find out.

I did a clean install of the updated files and unfortunately I do not have cab sounds. I did a clean install, cleared cache, restarted game and have DSGDDR and KUJU enabled. Any help would be appreciated. I do have lever clicks but no outside engine sounds, chuffs ect.

Google:
I apologize for the inconvenience, but unfortunately I can not reproduce this error that you are reporting, in this update I put the sounds of the Dreyfuss cabin and corrected the problem of the independent brake and even using the sounds of black 5 still, it would not need to activate anymore the Kuju folder.

Anyway I made files of complete Chuffs sounds for the J3a and will no longer use the sounds of Black 5, John is testing to see if there is any problem.
Maybe the next update your issue will be solved, but I can not guarantee and I'll be looking for something wrong.

You will need to edit the cab occlusion reference as mentioned previously. I just put a 1 in the file name reference so there was nothing for it to find... There is so much work in getting these things working, even something as simple as a reskin, so hats off to Darlan & John for getting these out, it is an amazing feat **!!bow!!**

!*cheers*!

ps: just drop the attached bin into the NYC J3a / Default / Engine and the NYC j3a / Def2 / Engine folders and overwrite the original. Hopefully this should fix the issue; it fixed mine !!*ok*!!
(the system didnt like an unzipped bin !*roll-laugh*! )

!*cheers*!

Unfortunately, the cabview still did not have sounds. But it's okay because I used my fix and all is well. I'm not too worried anyways since most steam engine cabs don't dampen the sound at all in real life. Great job on everything else. This is my new favorite engine!
