What happened to those route builders?

Hi. No, I did not die.

Since the release of the Maine Maritime, interest in Rick Kfoury and I's routes seems to have jumped up a little bit.
However, unless some absurd change rolls around in the future with us, we're probably not going to be making any more routes and/or other content. This isn't fully set in stone, but I have a few explanations.

Rick has moved over to model railroading, which I think is pretty rad. There's something about having a physical version of your railroad in front of you, even if the locos fit in the palm of your hand. I think it was also the lack of upcoming or pre-existing New England content for Railworks that kind of put both of us off.

As for me, I'm a high school student who has tons of stuff to do. I'd love to keep making routes, but I just don't have the time.

Just in case anyone was wondering why we've dropped off the face of the planet, this is why.

Keep on railroading!
sreehC,
Jack

Good luck in whatever you do in the future. I’m grateful for what you have done already.

Yes, I am still living as well *!lol!*

The main reason I stopped building routes and repainting rolling stock was because the simulator itself was not performing well on my computer and I could not justify the cost of purchasing a replacement solely for the virtual hobby. It was kind of hard to keep an interest in creating routes that I could not even run myself due to poor performance. I decided to transition into model railroading, as Goddraug said, and have also spent some time publishing a few books on New England railroad history. My most recent is going out to print this week and is a chronicle of the Boston & Maine in Manchester, NH, published by the Boston & Maine Railroad Historical Society. Nevertheless, I am humbled that there are people still interested in the routes I created and I am glad I was able to contribute to a community that was always very helpful and encouraging.

I have had a few new users PM me about issues with the CV and B&M routes. I am so rusty on the workings of Train Simulator at this point that I can't remember the fixes, but I know they were discussed and resolved in the original posts relating to those routes. To find those posts all you need to do is search my username "RickKfoury" and find the corresponding posts. Good luck and thanks again to everyone for what was an enjoyable and enriching period in my ongoing interest in railroading!

!*roll-laugh*! If you thought a new computer was expensive wait if you get seriously involved with model railroading. In any event if and when you return you're always welcome. Thanks for your contributions. !*salute*!

Is your NH route available anywhere? I would love to get my hands on that and the 2555 paint!
