I hope it's okay that I cross-post this into this thread as the Springfield Line crashes have been mentioned here too:

We believe we have found a fix for the crash with the route in 64-bit TS. Wayne has tweaked the objects for the "global" (always visible) distant scenery items for a somewhat reduced resource footprint and that seems to have done the trick. (Don't ask us though why the original, more detailed objects work fine in 32-bit TS which theoretically should have less resources available for them).

Anway, here is a patch:
http://vnhrr.golden-age-rails.com/files ... -%20WC.zip
Just install it directly to your Railworks main folder and allow it to overwrite files. If you want to create a backup of the original files first, back up these:
- the entire folder Assets\VNHRR\Springfield\Scenery\Global
- the file Content\Routes\c427bd51-0f8f-4edb-948b-e9b5ceadd48f\Scenery\GlobalScenery.bin

Please note that this patch has so far only been tested by Wayne and me. We hope that it works for everybody, but we can't guarantee it. Please report back if it doesn't work for you and the crash persists even after installing the patch.

Cheers
Michael

Finally got the out of memory error on TS2019. Tapped my baby a wee bit to hard doing major track laying and scenery shaping in the RE.

For some reason, I can't run the 64 bit. I thought I was running 64. Even with the patch and update still won't run. Also tried all the tips on this thread with no luck. Everything I read would suggest a uninstall/reinstall will probably fix the problem.

Looking forward to a 2-3 hour copy/offload of the asset, content, source, and DEM folders to insure nothing goes bye bye reinstalling.

Would have been nice if DTG had not fudged the update to TS2019 to begin with forcing many of us to do a huge amount of extra work to hopefully get 64 bit to work correctly.

Also, read on Steam (should have enclosed the link) that DTG is considering adding a OSM overlay which would be nice. A overlay for Bing Maps would be a big plus as well.

You do know the vast majority of us got our D/L and it runs with no issues? It is not a problem of DTG.

For those unfamiliar, OSM stands for what exactly? An in-game alternative to GE would be welcomed with open arms.

I looked up some more detailed info about the service and it doesn't seem to be focused on aerial imagery. Is the service essentially an online street directory? Is this what the potential overlay will provide?

While I have no idea what of OSM DTG might implement into the game, I do know that I quite like the maps on offer there. In the places I frequently visit they are much better and user-friendly than their big rival Google Maps.

Also worth noting is that OSM is a community driven free source released under Creative Commons license, so in a way OSM is to Bing and Google Maps what LibreOffice is to Word.

Another very useful resource (with similar approach) and of particular interest for our hobby is
https://www.openrailwaymap.org/
though the amount of data and detail varies greatly from region to region in my experience.

This HAS TO BE DONE if you ever do a uninstall/reinstall. Make sure to back up your Asset, Content, Dem, Manuals, and Source folders prior to the uninstall. If you don't, you'll be SOL!!!

Someone in the thread has already said he lost a whole lot of items when DTG did the update to 2019. It's a fact. On my reinstall, I had only 33 folders in the assets folder. There should have been 150. I had other things missing from the other 4 folders I listed.

Would advise to backup those 5 regularly which I know can be a big task. Alternatively, once you have made the most current backup of these 5 folders, for each new item added, add it to your backup folder. That would cut down on having to entirely backup those 5 folders.

On the flip side, it is a big task to put all of it back into the sim after the reinstall. And it'll take awhile pending on just how much the individual has in those folders.

And I did the reinstall with the hopes the 64 bit might, repeat MIGHT work. Still can't run the sim in 64 bit. Either I'm still doing something wrong, or DTG's 64 bit is not all it was promoted to be. The customer should not have to jump thru hoops on their end for the 64 bit work properly. Should have been in good working order when the update was done. The fact DTG had to issue a fix same day of the update should have given many a heads up that there were issues in a few short hours after the upload.

You keep blaming DTG for all these problems yet I repeat with all due respect most of us got this to D/L and run with no problems. Many many of us made a backup and just left out current version alone and it went off and ran right out of the box without having to do anything other than put a shortcut on my desktop for the 64bit version. I'm sorry for all your problems but please stop blaming the game guys.

Kman, do you have a 64 bit OS running? Is your computer capable of 64 bit software? I had no problems at all with the new 64 bit. Even my old, old route NERR runs just fine in it. Nothing is missing either. I still have 180 gig of stuff installed. I have every route made and every DLC made. Hundreds of freeware stuff. All there. And I don't make back ups. Waste of time to me.

I did have an issue with all of my mods getting over wrote for no reason. Never verified integrity, but since I made most of the mods I run, reinstalling the modded bins was super easy.

Got the 64 bit to work. link enclosed. I tried what was described in the link after the sim had been updated by DTG and it just would not work. Typed option 2 and exited. My computer kept saying it was a invalid command.

So just minutes ago I tried clicking on Setup_Audio.bat again and it worked. Go figure. Many here had no issues, but reading elsewhere when I couldn't get it to go, others had the same issue with the Setup_Audio.bat either not working or even being included within the files after the update. They had to go and download it. Some lost assets and content like myself, some didn't. Some had no issues with routes in 64, others did. A mixed bag of tricks. To say "Oh it works for me, must be you." is just as bad as "blaming" DTG. Neither is a appropriate comment, though it's within our rights to say so.

I don't and didn't have that .bat file. I launched from the Steam Library. A window popped up and asked for 32 or 64 bit. No muss no fuss.

It is not within your "rights" to say things that are not true here without being challenged. This forum is not a democracy it is a moderated forum.

It's the exact reason why I don't launch it through Steam anymore. Instead, I added a shortcut to the 64 bit version to the side menu.

Gets annoying when trying to fine tune something, and you feel obliged to restart the game several times to be sure it's behaving itself.
