Not when they sell the product with a obvious back door to a silly restriction. Stand by before you freak out.

If anyone is looking for a quick fix for the decals on the locomotives I just found the fix.

Copy the 'decalatsf.TgPcDx' file from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\JL\Raton\RatonAssets\RailVehicles\Diesel\Dash8-40BW\Engine\Textures
This is the .ap trainsim file.

And paste into the
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\JL\Raton\System\Textures
This is the other .ap trainsim file.

Rename the file 'Bdecalsatsf.TgPcDx' to 'Bdecalatsf-backup.TgPcDx' then,
rename the copied file 'decalatsf.TgPcDx' to 'Bdecalatsf.TgPcDx'

Now the decals should be applied on the locomotives.

That has already been done by Buzz as a System.AP file. He has done it and put it into a zip file, and all people have to do is unzip the System.AP file and copy it into the Steam\Steamapps\Common\Railworks\Assets\Jl\Raton folder and it will install into the System.ap file. That is what I have done as in my screenshots. Buzz's way is much easier for people who are not confident about renaming files etc.

Yes Trev - don't disagree, but isn't it also nice for other people to work out the nuts and bolts, then if Buzz isn't around for some reason someone else can provide a fix in similar circumstances...

Thanks Buzz (and Gleno747 :D )

The nose doors of the Dash8-40s open, but the nose decals on mine (non US) are applied across the whole front of the model - is this the same in the US Steam DLC?

I think that is an unfortunate characteristic of a decal applied to a locomotive body.

Notice the decal doesn't follow the hood door contours either.

I guess so, the Pepsi Can livery is applied all over rather than a decal...

We have decals on the AC44. There is no problem with making them move with the doors if you know what you're doing when making the model.

I have had a reply over at UKTrainsim, would this be hitting the right solution?

"If the decals are child objects they need linking to the door as the child's parent node--you'd need to review the .GeoPcDx to find the correct nomenclature. Once assigned to the right node the values in the positions matrix will be relative to that node, so they'll need changing to suit."
