Howdy Folks,

What kind of guy would I be if I made CNW E8 skins and didn't give you some cars to pull?
These will work just as the Milwaukee Road cars, except different bells and whistles, and maybe I'll do the 6 window car as well.
*Still a work in progress, enjoy!

P.S. The configuration, in regards to placement of the horn and bell is as they were when they were delivered. To prevent engineer insanity the horn and bell were moved soon after.

Since you're on a roll with gallery car repaints, would you consider the following for the Peninsula Gilroy route? For a period of time during the early 2000's, Caltrain leased some ex-CNW gallery cars for a "hospital" train. As their regular gallery cars were cycled through Alstrom for rebuilding, they used this trainset as a fill in. I would sometimes work this trainset off the assistant conductor's extra board. Some cars were like ovens on broil, other cars were like meat lockers. Some windows were practically frosted opaque, and it was sometimes next to impossible to see if you were even on the platform... especially at night. I do remember the bathrooms having white porcelain corner sinks, which I thought was a class touch, especially given our regular cars had the antiseptic stainless steel bathroom fixtures.

An interesting note. When the trainset was first used, the cab car was at the north end, like all the other trainsets. However, they found that the wheelchair ramps didn't work with vestibules, so they added an ex-VRE Budd coach for PNA access next to the locomotive, and wye'd the trainset so that the cab car was on the south end. This was the only trainset configured that way.

This project is very interesting. Never would have thought to use the VLP model for reskins. I would love to see a full matching set to run on the Racetrack. If you need side shots of the Metra Budd 7200 and 8200 cars I do have some. I took some last week commuting back and forth to Chicago.

Unfortunately, when I try to place down the cab car, I get a problem.
When I place down the coach in a free roam scenario, it works fine,
but when I click the cab car to place it down, the game crashes and I get a dump file on my desktop.

CNWFAN, sure I can add them to the pile. The downside to making the repaints I have thus far is, they don't have any routes to run on. Outside of a few folks (based on your forum name I assume your one ) with a particular interest in these railroads, there is likely to be little interest. So doing some Caltrain or Metra would probably be a good idea, as we do have those routes to enjoy.
I feel your pain by the way, when I get called to work Metra (which I try whole hardly to avoid) I can't stand it!

PNWR1854, When I was testing the cars before release, and when Buzz tested them for me we had some similar issues. To correct these please make sure there are no missing gaps in the geopcdx file you copied, and the section I provided in the readme are accurate. If there is, this could be causing your CTD. Also make sure the "Barnez" and "DTG Gilroy" boxes are ticked in the asset menu. You do not need to tick the "JRH" folder. Let me now what you find, sorry for the trouble.

Thank you Jerry for considering the repaints. As for the CNW E's and gallery cars... I'll find somewhere to run them. I believe you're doing a clean version of the CNW E unit... maybe also do a clean set of gallery cars for an "employee days" excursion on the racetrack. Equipment graciously provided by the Illinois Railroad Museum. See... told you I'd find a way.

Howdy Folks,

Bout done screwing around with these. They will include the Pullman-Standard cabcar, 4 and 6 window coaches, gong bell and Westinghouse AA2 (not the WABCO), and accurate numbers. Interior also got a slight rework. I also plan to release the CNW E-8's at the same time.

Howdy Folks,

I think I jinxed myself with all this talk about hating Metra. I got called downtown to play ticket puncher a few Fridays ago
However, it wasn't a complete waste of time. Once I had collected the tickets in my cars I took the opportunity to walk around and check out the ex. CNW and MILW cars in our train(s) and see what I had gotten right and screwed up.
With that said, I have released a small update to the MILW Gallery Cars (they are in the library now). Didn't change much, mostly some internal stuff visually. I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturdays!

The kind of guy who brought back some fond memories of riding the long-distance versions of these between Chicago and Green Bay back in the mid-'60s. Some years later, I worked with the ex-C&NW guy who implemented the whole concept of push-pull service and gallery cars. That was a real education.

I'm delighted to see these, and look forward to running them.

Thanks for the very kind comment! I really wanted to find a way to make the gallery diner/lounge car, but its hard to find pictures of both sides, I'm not sure if they were symmetrical. Videos I've found suggest they looked nothing like whats pictured here
