GWE driving with keyboard controls

GWE driving with keyboard controls

Unread postby gwgardner » Fri Sep 15, 2017 3:34 pm

I just want to run the trains on GWE with the familiar keyboard controls, similar to those in TS2017. The settings for the keys indicates that the 'Z' key does engine startup. Won't work for me. I hit Z and on the right side of the screen the phrase Engine start + appears. I tried clicking on the + key, nothing happens. Z key, Shift Z key, etc. Nothing.

Maybe the engine is already on? I try to set the reverser to forward, and get the message engine off.

How does one start the engines with just keyboard controls?

What loco. I have only tried the HST Class 43 and you need to turn the key on. Not sure what the keyboard key for this is, probably read the manual may help. :)

I couldn't find a manual for the GWE. I was thinking there would be a simple keypress for startup as in other engines in the past.

Here is the Service Mode timetable:

Best try to stick to it, as the AI dispatcher still isn't very clever and won't route a HST around you when your local service runs into a delay.

Thanks again. I'm surprised there is so little comment here or at UKTrainsim about this new offering from DTG. I'm enjoying it.

Go figure!

Isn't UKTS closely linked to one of DTG's staff IIRC and its moderators not too keen on negative reviews? But I think even the fanbois are a bit disappointed there isn't more to TSW yet than nice looking trains and routes.

How about it's because with TS2017 there are new routes from the death star plus the third party guys near every week and new rolling stock, locomotives, and scenery almost daily and from TSW crickets for the most part? This thing is on life support.

Interesting you should say that, Buzz. The one thing TSW GWE has done is actually get me firing up TS2017 again - and enjoying it, at least the better stuff. Routes like the Devon Riviera line and the recently released BR Western Region diesel hydraulic pack. All good stuff. If indeed TSW marks the end of TS20xx (Railworks) ongoing development that actually may bring a level of stability and has got me interested in starting to create routes again.

There would be a certain irony if TSW is a huge flop but TS2017 surges forward with renewed vigor.
