NStrains - Super shots and you can definitely make it to CH. I hope you enjoyed the detour on the Hillburn to CH run!

Ex-railwayman - You wondered how were going to attack C&H Salvage. We did and populated it with "Junkers" from Germany. I mean no disrespect to landed gentry- its a play on words. I'm gonna say it again - Munich-Augsburg does not let me down.

And. its on a slope. Looks great from the train too!

I did enjoy it! Now I will have to try your QD from Hillburn again to see how it goes. I started the QD from CH-Croxton lastnight but between the VRC GP59 and string of RRmods boxcars I was hauling it crashed out about 3 miles into the run. FPS is still a consistent 15-17 for me in the QD with all the rolling stock sitting around.

Im leaving for North Carolina early tomorrow morning so I will be gone for the next week and won't be able to play or check the site here.

Time for route progress update: Mea Culpa Edition! But first some pictures:

20170909155912_1.jpg

On to the Mea Culpa. As you know for the past few weeks I have been taking about the Pine bush Branch and the Montgomery Branch, ending the route, lots of customers and a big finish. I also, through implication, been suggesting that this Northern extension is ERIE. Oh boy. After last weeks field trip I had been doing some research on the "Montgomery" branch, and came up with the Wallkill Valley Railroad. Well this little railroad was built in 1866 to link up with the Erie at Campbell Hall. Interesting. The other short branch goes to Maybrook and that is Erie. Anyway, I was under the distinct impression that this was the Pine Bush job my Dad worked on occasion. He did do a few turns at Maybrook. But I was wrong. Here is the map with my notes:
mnj-map2.gif

Credit is where credit is due - I was speaking with my chief Railroad consultant, my Dad, about me building the Pine Bush branch he worked on. Well, that was great except the Pine Bush branch comes off of Crawford Jct. NOT Campbell Hall. Crawford JCT is 8 miles to the West and runs parallel to what were going to call the Montgomery Branch. Too Funny! *!lol!* I was close ... really!

I could go on all night about the all the railroads that existed within 3 miles of Campbell Hall in say 1955. Let me just list them. Remember we are out in the woods here. So its 1955 and were in Campbell Hall and we got the following: Erie, New York, Ontario and Western, Lehigh and New England, New York Central, New York, New Haven and Hartford and the Lehigh and Hudson River Railway !!!!
maybrookmap.gif

Just an amazing place and time.
Back to the build!

*It was bad enough building the PRR over Croxton, but now I am doing the Central too? !*hp*!

Thank you ET44C4, everything is there for a reason. And in a way it remnds me of your abandoned water tower picture. And it is relevant to the route West of NJ Jct.

Yes, very nicely done, Sir, although I personally think the cars look too shiny and European, but, I can change things around later.

I wanted to enquire about the Hamptonburgh Caboose Museum. I noticed on Google Street View that the Google car didn't go down the side roads so we can't view the whole thing properly, is there a Caboose standing there in real life and are you going to put one into the game in the future, please?

Cheerz. Steve.

Ex-Railwayman,

Indeed, the Hamptonburgh Caboose Museum exists. The caboose is currently viewable in Quick drive. One will be added to the route itself shortly.
Regarding the scrapped cars, I used the most low-poly cars I have from Munich-Augsburg. As you know, they are very European! This particular asset has been used many times to fill parking lots.

The Munich cars are fine for parking lots and other areas Adam/Alex, I was going to utilise some more authentic American cars specifically for this location, when the route has been finalised and I can tweak it to my personal preference. !!*ok*!!
Thanks for the info on the caboose. !*salute*!

Steve! Not a problem - I am very pleased that this route continues you keep you engaged. I hope I didn't seem cross, with modifying C&H Salvage. I forget what you know - I purposely work with a limited palate of assets and think I should be fixing what you point out, when that is not the case at all!

Do expect to see the caboose in free-roam - on the morrow!
Best,
Adam !!*ok*!!

No problem whatsoever, Adam, it's your route, you build it as you want it, I'm just an old duffer trying to be a perfectionist, which doesn't always work. *!greengrin!* Over the years I've Beta tested for various creators in Railworks, I still do, when I can get my game to work properly, and always chip in with comments and suggestions, some are taken on board and others ignored for whatever reason, and I really do appreciate that the 'toy box' is very limited, and you can only use the assets available for your route that appear in the DLC Payware offerings that we can obtain and are only available through Workshop. I'm sure many of us will adorn our routes with other American content that we find from elsewhere, it'll be interesting to see future screenshots, when the route is finished, as to what folks utilise and where they place it. I have a lot of European scenery that may look authentic on your route, a proper Italian Pizzeria and some French construction vehicles that may look good, they might not, it's all trial and error and experimenting, but, I doubt if anyone will ever get tired of playing on your creation as there is so much to do across the whole layout, it'll never get boring. !*salute*!

Cheerz. Steve. !!*ok*!!

I'll pop a couple of recent screenies on, from the Nabisco plant I was playing on the other night, with a new repaint. !*drool*!

Steve - it looks great and I absolutely enjoy the route being explored and enhanced. The point is to bring some enjoyment out there, do a little history, railfan the darn thing and operate it. Your timing is perfect because....

The Minermen present:

Route Update Number 178
New York Division-Bergen Line 9.9.1.3: Hamptonburgh Preserve

Additions: Trees to Wallkill River - Quarry Road, Campbell Hall, Hamptonburgh Town Park. Bridge over Wallkill, RT207 Overpass, Alders Florist, ARC of Orange County and add Siding Makers.

Fixes: Improvement to overall FPS at CH.
