Assistance in resolving a 'Scenario Failed to Load'

Here is a tip that shouldl prove very useful in overcoming 'Scenario Failed to load' errors.

Add the following text to your shortcut icon for launching the Developer Edition of Rail Simulator:

-ShowDriverList
(for example: C:\Program Files\Rail Simulator\RailSimEditor.exe -ShowDriverList)

This will add a 'Driver' button inside the Driver Properties window. Clicking it will bring up a list of all Driver Icons and their names currently active in the scenario.

What this window allows you to do is check the pathing status of each of your trains. Pending / Failed / Successful being the three possible status reports. If you find a train is listed as Failed, this will indicate that a stage of its pathing instructions is not working and you will need to go to that train and find out what it is unable to do from the instructions you have given it.

Next, the little tick box next to each train allows you to activate and de-activate a train in the pathing calculations. If you are unable to find out why a train is not able to achieve its instructions, you can untick and 'switch off' all the other trains to see if, when alone on the route, the train is able to complete its pathing. If it is, you will then know that it is infact another train that is conflicting with the first and causing it to fail. You can then add each train back in one at a time and see at what point the first train shows as Failed again. Once ticked or unticked, click the 'Apply' button and then refresh the status of each train.

Finally, you have the ability to Jump to each of your trains from this window. Simply click on one of the Driver entries, and the Lon/Lat co-ordinates of that train will be entered into the Navigation window at the top. All you then need do is click the Jump button and you will be transported to that train to check its instruction icons.

You can add them together like this "C:\Program Files\Rail Simulator\RailSimEditor.exe" -NoSplashScreens -ShowDriverList

If you get 'scenario failed to load' but all the drivers check out okay, one possibility is that in placing stock you have placed two items overlapping each other, thus:



If you can't find the cause of the 'fail' message this may be the culprit. If so, there's no other way to sort it than to go up and down the route inspecting consist to see if you have an 'overlapper'.

Yup - they're powder tankers, mainly cement. Part of the RSDL payware 'UK wagons 01' pack.

Its for drainage purposes. Though there are also non-bent versions as well for liquid cargo.
