EH, could do without the video. I'm sure CSX would not like it either. !*not-ok*!

... This isnt a train crash sim... this is why we dont get nice things, like licensing and etc..
Da Build: Intel Core I5-9600k, Nvida RTX 2060 Super, 32 GB ram, and way too much storage.

This is just like GTA V, Don't worry it's only a sim. People can have fun in a game.

If CSX or any other snowflakes take this seriously they need to get a life. Come on people.

What I meant by showing this video is that this situation is badly implanted in TSW. Since it is not a crash simulator nor a derailment simulator, what really should happen when hitting the trains is to end the game.

The only justification for sharing such a video is as evidence the signalling system has errors.

There is a thread on TS dot com today (in the General section) highlighting that UP are once again tightening up and playing silly burgers on licensing. Whether that will affect any eventual content in TSW who knows, but DTG still have to resolve the BNSF vs overseas sales situation so anything that casts the hobby in a less than favourable light probably best avoided.

Or maybe instead of clamping down on people messing around, we should push back against idiotic railroad companies that get their undies in a twist over video games. Literally no other industry does this. Aviation doesn't care, car companies don't care, there's literally no reason for railroads to care.

Oh, contraire! There are aviation companies that are VERY protective of their brand: Gulfstream comes to mind. At least two Flightsim developers that I know of sell their add on aircraft with "company" liveries only, offering realistic skins with trademarked logos as an after market freebie. Head on over to racedepartment.com and check out their forum to see how "little" the auto industry cares about their brands. Porsche recently returned to racing simulators after many years away via an exclusive contract with Kunos Simulazioni, which also holds a nearly unique contract with Ferrari. (Forza 6 has a Ferrari, but to my knowledge, that's it.)

I think it's on us, as hobbyists, to avoid angering the owners of trademarked material. Simulations come and go, but the two constants are the hobbyists and the trademark holders, and they have the legal standing. I agree with Buzz and others that this kind of thing should be beneath the consideration of a multinational corporation, but the corporations often disagree with that sentiment. I've read posts on various forums describing Cease and Desist orders from lawyers employed by CSX whose sole purpose is to search the internet for mentions of their brand and block anything that poses even a hint of negativity around their corporate image.

Like it or not, it's up to us to ensure that our hobby portrays the industry with respect.

So does that mean if i post "CSX Has operating flaws and is run by a schmuck" that Bob will get a team of lawyers knocking on his door? I have never seen this with other railroads like BNSF or the UP. Do you know what forum said this as i would like to read that stuff!

It was more like private citizens maintaining websites with PDF copies of outdated CSX timetables and things.

There are companies that don't care, of course, but there are those who feel that videos like the one in the OP could cast a road in a negative light simply by putting the image into a potential customer's head...and where it's assessed as a risk to business revenue, the operators of the company have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to prevent it.
