TSW @30fps on 2560x1440 - Settings

Postby Marleyman » Fri Mar 17, 2017 6:08 pm

I have been messing with my NVidia control panel to get better fps in TSW and here are settings that have worked for me.

Rig First, and it is a high end rig.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5930K CPU @ 4.2GHz
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB
RAM 32 GB
Samsung SSD
Krait X99 Sys Board
Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 14393), 64-bit
Resolution 2650x1140

I have in game settings all at their maximum with the exception of 'Screen Percentage' which is at 100%
Windows Mode-Fullscreen is also set
I have VSync off as I have a GSync monitor

I can get 35fps out on the line (Powering America Pt2) in the rain and fog and anything from 30 to 50 in the yard on the 'Clear Cut' scenario in Cumberland Terminal.

Using the NVidia Control panel I set TSW Program Settings as follows.

Good Grief. Why are you playing at that resolution? Any time you go over 1900x1080 resolution you're going to take performance hits.

2560x1440 is the default resolution for the monitor and I am confident that DTG will improve performance, in the meantime 30fps in this game is perfectly acceptable. I may drop to 1920x1080 to see how it compares, but I built this rig to game with 2560x1440 resolution in all games.

A constant 30fps at that resolution is a very desirable performance.

Can you post a few screenshots with the cab view from the seat in default FoV?

I also have a 21:9 monitor, and am very pleased with it. It is however hooked up to a different rig w/o TS17. I think TS17 isn't really suited to this display aspect, but perhaps the view is projected differently in TSW.

My current TS17 rig also has a 980Ti, so your TSW performance and settings could be of great use to me.

Kenny, when I obtained my GTX 1060 6GB about a month ago, I learnt that with all 10 series nVidia GPUs, and the upper 9 series cards, they can all give you now a default monitor res of 2715x1527, called Dynamic Super Resolution, it's 4k in essence, but, squishes it down for a 1920x1080 native monitor to read, have you overwritten this on your monitor?

I have an iiyama 27inch G-MASTER GE2788HS-B1 Black Hawk gaming monitor myself, if that helps.

No, the monitor is the RoG Swift PG278QR and I tend not to use DSR in any game as I can't see the difference with the exception of Diablo 3 which really does benefit from DSR.

Fair point Sir, I'll make a note of your specs amendements in the nVidia Control Panel anyway, thanks for posting that, something to experiment with in the future.
