help request concerning semaphores

Unread postby gwgardner » Sun Oct 30, 2016 4:55 pm

I've been watching tutorials and reading about semaphores. There are a couple of things I don't understand so far:

1) see attached screenshot of the GX asset semaphores, how are the 'manual' semaphores intended to be used/placed on the route?

2) see attached screenshot of the GN assets, in which I'm unsure what the 'E' designation means, as in 1H 1T 1E

Thanks for any help.

I can't speak for Rick's models, but you should be able to determine which signals goes where by double clicking them in the route editor on the RWA route and checking which model is used where.

For my signals, I'm using standard Kuju (Cajon Pass) signals naming and scripting here, so the E links are the yard-entry/end-track links like on the Kuju signals.

The GX "Manual" semaphores are the ones with a bell crank at the base representing manually operated signals. I used four of them on the RW&A at the 2x2 cross intersection next to Waterton tower. A more complete setup would have included a network of control rods emanating from the tower. Although the signals are called "manual" they're actually scripted the same as the main line semaphores.

Thanks much for the explanations. I'll be using the manual semaphore then at Tower 55. I spent all day yesterday trying to figure out how to signal that crossing, and it completely stumped me.

Another questions, if I may:

1) What are the 1H 0T semaphores for?

2) What are the 2H 1T for?

3) What are the semaphores used for that have 4 or more tracks? Like 3H 6T?

I do fiddle with these to try to figure them out, and looking at the RWA route is a big help, but for some I'm stumped. Thanks for any help. I guess I should go look at the Kuju usage also.

1H 0T Is like a block Signal. Those are the ones i use when putting signals on a line.
