Actually this is a route DTG is working on. It is stated in this post and on the Video they made about Train Simulator 2017. Besides that there is not much more we know about this route as of now. They state that there will be more information coming in the coming weeks. So we know they are making a San Francisco Route but that is all we know.

Here is what was stated on there video about Train Simulator 2017.

"Our best days are ahead of it we have some incredible content in the pipeline really amazing stuff.
We have a great selection of routes coming ahead our highlights are San Francisco. We are looking forward to it, it is really amazing."

"And we also have a number of third party products coming up too."

So you see they are making a San Francisco Route. But like I said that is all we know for know.

We know a little more than that.
They said they've licensed Caltrain. That alone says a boat load if you grew up in the Bay Area or are very familiar with the railroads there.
Caltrain doesn't run very far.
If they do indeed include the East Bay too, that will be cool.
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.

Thanks for the information. So with that it does look like the Caltrain Line from San Francisco to San Jose. Here is the link I posted earlier of the Caltrain Line from San Jose to San Francisco.

https://youtu.be/NyWGG6vzGHA

So we are getting a San Francisco To San Jose Route this is great news.

Once it comes out I am pretty sure there will be people that will clone it and add on to this Route. I know I will be one of them.

I am going to clone the Sacramento Northern Route from G-Trax Simulations when it comes out. It is set in the Bay Area around 1939 and 1940 to my best knowledge.

Looking forward to more news about the San Francisco Route.

We don't know the era as of yet. But they did mention there partnership with Caltrain. So we can guess that it is probably set in modern times.

Smokebox is making his own route for his new Jupiter Steam Engine coming out. It will be the Promontory Summit route.

They labelled it as the San Francisco & San Jose Railroad. Quick google says they operated between 1863–1870 so either it is an old-timey route or a modern one, which they just put the wrong name on.

Could it be the route that was shown off with the pump car that *spooky voice* mysteriously disappeared... (In keeping with DTGs way of announcing the route)

I don't know why TS James erroneously called it the San Francisco & San Jose Railroad, as it is definitely Caltrain,.
Steve confirms this in the comments at the end of the article:

Caltrain? Does this mean a passenger/commuter route?

This is from DTG so we know it is a modern route. " It will feature our fully licensed partner Caltrain."
Not trying to be funny but Caltrain was not around in 1863 to 1870. So it is a modern route.

And i know there will be those that say just wait until DTG releases more information. But speculating is what makes it fun. DTG is obviously reading these posts and we are getting information because of it.

TrainSim Steve said in the article comments "Gary Dolzall will be sharing the fascinating history of the San Francisco route at a later date". I think you guys are jumping the gun saying this route will be in modern times. The San Francisco and San Jose Railroad ran on the tracks that today is used by Caltrain and Union Pacific. Maybe there was a licencing issue, where they needed the license from caltrain. Either way, I doubt they would misspell the name of the route in the article. My money is placed on an older steam route. **!!2cents!!**

Good point we will see. Whatever we get is going to be good. But thinking they are making this route for Smokebox Jupiter Steam Engine is wrong. I commuicated with him and he and a friend are making there own Route for his Jupiter Engine. And in an earlier post in this section DTG states it is mostly going to be an commuter Route.
So my money is still on a modern day route. But like i already said we are going to get a San Francisco route of some type and this is a good thing.

Union Pacific owns the tracks that Caltrain operates on. So I'm still in for Caltrain and modern.

This is from "It’s Competition Time – Halloween Special!"

The upcoming routes of choice are:

Hamburg S1 Airport Shuttle
South Wales Coastal: Bristol-Swansea
Modern Caltrain San Francisco Route

So I believe the route will be in modern times.

When I saw mentions of San Francisco I knew it would be CalTrain, knowing DTG focuses on the modern era. I'm anticipating the included rolling stock will consist of an F40PH-2CAT, MP36PH-3C, and UP AC4400CW, with Nippon-Sharyo Gallery, Bombardier BiLevel, and assorted freight cars. This line has potential having that I checked the route is 77 miles long, and freight operations are shared from Tamien to Gilroy.

If they do things right there could even be some SFBR action.
