Only time will tell! :D

Are you planning on an early wood burning version too?

Cheers

With a pair of travelers at each windowpane.
I may sit beside you all the journey through,
Or I may sit elsewhere, never knowing you.
But if fate should mark me to sit by your side,
Let's be pleasant travellers; it's so short a ride."

Yep, after watching a video of Jupiter doing one of its regular recreations of the Golden Spike ceremony (along with 119), I realised that Jupiter is a wood burner and 119 is a coal burner. I'll have to find out the calorific value of the wood they used *!lol!*

It's the first time I've seen that paint scheme; it's very nice though!

I wasn't planning on doing more than one livery, but I will try to make the texture mapping "repainter-friendly" so that Joe and the other talented repainters can have a go at doing their own liveries.

fair enough it never hurts to ask. the only reason I even went looking for that photo is that my very 1st HO scale locomotive was a bachmann Jupiter in that scheme rather than the blue based one and i discovered it hiding at the bottom of a box of non runners/ spare parts this afternoon

It was thought that red was the primary color on the Jupiter. Later research revealed that the engine was much more colorful. So The original paint scheme that Conner Engineering placed on the Jupiter Is what you see in the picture. Also, all of the "wood and coal fired replicas",are actually oil fired for lower maintenance costs. I still have the 1979 edition of "Great World of Model Railroading",that has an article on the construction of the Jupiter and 119. Conner had draftsman create all the plans from photos,as there are no preserved engines in either class.

I did wonder about whether the replicas are really oil-fired and just pretending to be wood burners. They have the large firebox door, which works, and looks like it's meant to be big enough for throwing in sticks of wood, but I've also found in the plans for the tender that there's a gas tank hidden in there. I suspect it might be for propane or butane.

The mechanical drawings that Conner Engineering did for the replicas are amazingly accurate in terms of how the dimensions all come together. I make every piece separately, each in their own file, and then bring them together in the master model file ("Jup_Assembly.3dc"). Just yesterday, I was making the "house brackets" and wondered why certain angles and grooves and cut-outs were in them. Then I came to put the brackets into the overall assembled model, butted up against the engine frame and cab support brackets, and it slotted in absolutely perfectly (with all of the marked positions of nuts, bolts and rivets aligned without any error at all). They did a fantastic job turning photos into something so well-engineered.

Hm...I could see a Virginia and Truckee version being made as a repaint.

not to sound like a dick. which i am probably gonna but anyway..
why would you want it? to me it looks ugly. and more to the point you would run into MASSIVE copyright issues if you went ahead and included that livery in the pack

What is this locomotive from? It looks like an 1850-1860's Rogers engine, with European/Australian features. Obviously it is to promote Nvideia. I did a search and could not find it. I would be thrilled to see this engine in our sim.
