I'm somewhat impressed. They actually worked in a functional "mode change" system. In 3rd Rail Mode, the diesel is actually OFF.

Otherwise, they recycled mostly everything else. The physics are from the GE Genesis DLC, and the shoreliner cab car horn and bell are from the Pacific Surfliner Pack. I'm almost done with a physics / sound mod for the FL9 DLC, and I'll be posting it on this website in a few hours.

However, having just watched a few youtube videos, the locomotive model itself is missing a couple of third rail shoes LOL

Good grief. That's all you have to say. Oh yeah you probably don't own it yet.

So far what I have to say is she's sure purddy the horn sound is disappointing but fortunately easy to fix since we have a zillion excellent horns here in the library. The best news for me is that the ditch lights are child objects so I can finish my long ignored NS F unit and do anything else we want to do of the saved F units floating around that are still active.

FHRob: I understand you're making a point. There are many of us that are hardcore into realism. The ACS-64 was introduced last year and the last FL9's were retired in 2009. When I play the bundled scenarios I will imagine the ACS-64's are AEM-7's.

FanRailer: Will there be a K5LA in it (in addition to the Hancock Air Whistle) because that's the horn modelled on it?

Anyone else having this problem? When I throttle up everything is fine but when I throttle back down it seems to stay at notch two on the sound even though the engine rpm goes back to idle.

Buzz,

Not an expert, and I'm just feeling my through this puppy... but the '2' is the selector indicator showing you are in the 'electric mode'. The selector just to the right of the display... swing it right once or twice for 'diesel mode'. then back left a few times for 'electric mode'.

Could the sound thing Buzz be because when in diesel mode it supplied head end power?

Just curious, have you tried Run 8? A number of people on this forum enjoy the realism, but are put-off by the "hardcore" attitude in multi-player.

You're hardcore into realism? Good for you. Go drive a real train. *!!wink!!*

There are also a bazillion K5LAs on RWA that you can use with the FL9.

Oh waaa. Nobody, no model of rolling stock or locomotive is perfect.

Sorry, but to me an omission like that goes waaaay beyond rivet counting and perfectionism as it's a core function/feature of the locomotive. If the Acela had diesel engine sounds would someone be a rivet-counter for complaining? It's dishearteneing to see the trend on this forum of some people mocking others who raise legitimate complaints with DLC (and I don't mean those who complain about paint colours being off by one RGB value, or a headlight being misplaced by two inches, to me that level of criticism is unnecessary).

Hopefully the FL9 won't have this issue, or if it does, DTG will be upfront about it so consumers can make an informed decision.

dr1980:

I'm on your side here. We spend our hard-earned money, and expect core functions/features to work. Everybody's entitled to their opinion, and mocking those who don't agree is juvenile.
