Why do you post stuff like this?

Come on, Buzz . . . the poor guy can't even spell "dollars", much less spend them. Read your own signature motto and go back to your typically useful & helpful posts.

What's that got to do with anything pertaining to the current conversation? Plus pre release prices like that might not be final....

Just Trains going in for the sneaky release. Guess the people making it didn't like DTG.

Or there may have been issues in resolving some issues that DTG had with it and the developers went through another venue.

Interestingly it does not have achievements if it would be released on Steam

Is this narrow guage, I can't really see the track properly in the screenshots. I like the trees anyway, they look like 3D, especially, the forest pines, I wonder if they have shadows. The butterflies on the lily pads is a nice touch, and some new 3D characters for our platforms, Japanese of course, but, they may be useful elsewhere.

Yes it's narrow gauge. It's the 1067mm narrow gauge (3'6") as opposed to the 914mm (3') of the Durango and Silverton although the stuff looks quite nice on there. (If you are not a rivet counter type) It is just spectacular scenery.

Thanks Buzz. I see there have been mixed reviews so far, apart from the lovely scenery assets, it's about 85 miles long and much of it through forest, which I personally may find a tad boring, but, I suppose if you have small children, they may appreciate the prettiness, the Cherry trees look especially wonderful, it's a niche market, Japanese narrow guage, so, if you're the sort of person who might play it once then forget about it, it may be worth getting in a sale to cut down on the cost, at least you can utilise the new scenery assets elsewhere, each to his/her own.

Politics of the sudden switch to JT aside, I am definitely tempted by this one as I do have a soft spot for both Japanese routes and anything hosted in the mountains. Assuming there are no restrictions on referencing assets then could provide some new toys to play with in personal projects, albeit the JT connection means unable to use Steam Workshop to host an eventual project.

One advantage of the move to JT though... GBP£5 cheaper than the likely Steam price, plus I probably have a couple of quid off in reward points and they're offering additional reward points for early purchase.

Just need to sweet-talk SWMBO...

Hopefully it doesn't go the same way as the Kwazulu route, which was thorougly trashed.
After taken the beating, it remains to be seen if the builders update it with new trains, etc.
They promised us Beyer-Garratt and other RSA stuff, which would be nice to have.

Narrow gauge railways are extensive in Japan, and some are right up with the best of Japan's standard gauge, high speed lines.
Perhaps the builders will bring us a modern, urban narrow gauge commuter line?

JT has some more Far Eastern routes in their catalog, so who knows how things evolve?

Frankly, driving passenger units through Japan doesn't appeal to me any more than doing so through any other country, but, yes, the fact that JT has released it after so much ballyhooing on the part of RSC/DTG (which did mysteriously stop not long ago) is interesting. Furthermore, not being able to gain brownie points or post scenarios to Steam Workshop wouldn't keep me from purchasing if the route had any interest at all for me. I've bought several routes and rolling stock packages from JT and have always found their products to be of high quality for fair prices.
