Hi Gerry,

Quick question.......I recently (last night) purchased all of Richard's steam locomotives and am attempting to install your GN Steam pack that was uploaded on the 6th of September. Honestly, it was the entire reason for my purchase from Richard. I can see myself getting alot of use out of some GN steam power on Marias. Anyway, the folder structure has changed between your pack and Richard's locos. e.g. the 0-6-0 and 0-8-0 switchers are now in a folder named "USRA_Switchers" which made using the batch file somewhat difficult. I went in and changed the paths appropriately and all appears to have run correctly with the exception of several of Richard's USRA and Vanderbuilt tender Geopcdx files no longer being present in his packs. There were some other Geopcdx files that were no longer named as you have them in the batch file as well. It took me a good hour to get through the install.

Anyway, after all is said and done, I got the packs installed, but there are some textures missing on the drivers of the 0-6-0. Also, all of the engines have no sounds. I can drive them after placing them in a scenario, but they are completely silent.

Finally, here's my quick question. Are you still updating the pack or is the pack that was uploaded on the 6th of September the one you speak of in this thread? As of now, for some odd reason, I can't get your current pack to work with Richard's locos. If you are going to do a follow up pack, I might suggest you download the locos again to account for the file and folder structure changes in Richard's current packs. As mentioned above, mine are pretty fresh having downloaded them last night.

Oh yes, and Richard, I'm definitely missing textures on the bell, bell bracket and headlight bracket for the USRA 4-8-2 Light. I checked the download against what I have installed in TS2015 and the the folders match byte for byte. Not sure if that texture is aliased to something I don't have perhaps? !*hp*!

Cheers,

Ken

Hi Ken;

The short answer is yes. I plan on redoing the whole pack. I have been waiting on Dick to finish updating the steam roster, fixing the texture mapping problem with the bell bracket and other mapping issue tweaks. I have done some texture updating as well on my set and have added and expanded the added more options and roster. If Dick has finished updating his steam that is a good thing. I will take a look, and will download a fresh copy on all his steam to check to see what the differences are and make the appropriate changes. If he has changed the tender directory structure and added, renamed or subtracted some, I will make the appropriate changes to the next release. As to the sound, I never touched any of this (except maybe the whistles, but only within Britkits Steam), so not sure why you wouldn't be getting sound.

I should be getting back to these in a couple of weeks if Dick's updates are done.

Cheers, Gerry

Kewl beans. Let me know if you need any help testing your pack since I have all of Richard's steam. I'd be more than happy to assist.

As far as the sound issues? I don't know. The particle emmiters aren't working either. The pathing has been changed on some locos and Richard has compressed everything into AP files with the exception of the 0-6-0 and the 0-8-0 I believe.

As a side, even the SRR 4-6-2 Heavy skin in the file library is not working. More than likely a folder/file structure change with the latest of Richard's downloads.

The .ap files are purely to save on disk space. You can unzip them to restore the old folder structure and the should work OK.

There are some issue with the new folder structure though. All repaints I've tried in the library for your steam locos no longer work. File name changes and folder structure changes pretty much trashed the repaints. I tried copy the GeoPcDx files to different locations in the repaint folder with zero luck. Some of the files have different names and some are in different folders. Especially the tenders that are no longer nested within the loco folder. Hopefully, the original painters will be able to update them to the new folder structure you've implemented with the latest versions of your files. I really wanted to run the Southern repaints as well as the GN repaint pack.

Hi;

I have been going through and redoing all GN steam based on Dick's great steam models. I have unzipped all the .ap files and have been successful at redoing the repaints with all showing up and functioning (at lease in static view, haven't yet run them in any scenarios). I have had some issues with some of the updated steam versions from Dick, the slope back tender I noted already to Dick, being an example. In going through the different models I have found and did some default engine .bin file corrections (file path issues), which I will provide with the GN steam update as well. I want to complete the review of all his steam before giving all the items that have texture mapping issues. Plus if possible further texture remapping if Dick would be so kind that IMHO would further enhance the models.

Hi all;

I am getting close on redoing the GN steam using Dick Cowen's Britkits Steam. I have gone through all the steam and Have got 99% of them all functioning with no problems, and have done a test run with each model and all working fine. The only thing I have not done is really test out the helper units. Anyway In going through a lot of pictures I have settled on three paint schemes configurations for the steam:

1) Standard Black boiler with red cab roof and grey boiler frontend and stack.
2) Pullman Green boiler with red cab roof and grey boiler frontend and stack.
3) Glacier Green boiler with red cab roof and grey boiler frontend and stack.

I also will be including some other additional configuration adds so you can customize the locomotiveas you desire (eg. white walls with chrome cylinder covers).

Cheers, Gerry
