nVidia control panel and/or nvidia Inspector - UPDATED August 2018

nVidia drivers changes in 344 series

Since nVidia introduced the 344.xx series of drivers they have included a “profile” for TS2015 called "Train Simulator 2015 (railworks.exe)" in the nVidia control panel.
Now you may have previously set up your own special settings for TS2014/15 in the nVidia control panel and this could have different settings to the new nVidia provided TS2015 profile.

My advice would be to note the settings in your own TS2014/15 profile – then delete that profile and transfer the same settings to this new TS2015 profile. That way you should avoid any conflicts if the settings differ substantially. If the NVidia control panel has already "removed" your profile for TS2014/15 just check the settings in the new profile haven't been changed.

Like wise if you use nVidia Inspector (NVI) you will find this new TS2015 profile which now lists the SLI compatibility bits for TS 2015. I would again note your preferred settings in your own special profile, then delete that profile and transfer the settings to the new NVidia Train Simulator 2015 profile in NVI. This again should avoid any conflicts if the settings differ.

It may not make any difference if both profiles ie your own and the "new" nVidia TS2015 profile, are present at the same time, but keep in mind that the last profile accessed /changed by you, is the one that TS2015 will use.

Note There is NO optimum profile for TS 2015 in GeForce experience – we may see that one day.

Peter,

Please provide basic instructions for myself and other extreme non-geeks?

OP
If you are not using NVidia control Panel and TS is running OK then you do not need to do anything.
We probably need a pictorial guide - so I'll have a go at that and see if it can be posted, (Perhaps not see below)
In the interim to access the NVidia control panel (NVCP)- is RIGHT click on any area of your desktop and choose NVCP
You then have a couple of options wrt to graphics settings:
In the top left there is an option 3 D settings:
If you choose "Image settings with preview" then "Let the 3D application decide" then at the bottom right "apply" and you are done. Exit and that's it TS2015 settings apply.
If you choose "Manage 3D settings" a window will open with 1) a Global tab where you can set global graphics settings and 2) a "Program" specific tab where you will find the new TS 2015 profile. Highlight that profile.
Now all you do is choose the settings that you want (vary from card to card) but for example I chose antialiasing mode - enhance the application setting - when finished just apply and exit and its done.
It is under this tab that you will find any settings for TS2014 ie if you have already compiled your own profile previously - you can select that and delete it as recommended.
This is an excellent guide on the NVCP and graphics settings http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_6.html
Well worth reading http://www.pcworld.com/article/2026179/ ... tings.html
Useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-9sgohBIHs and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8jeGVttFKI

nVidia Inspector is an advanced tool and its best to Google it to get a better understanding of what it does.
Hope that helps !

Isn't it the case that the TS2015 profile loads automatically when you start the sim? Unless you want different settings for whatever reason, you needn't be concerned. NVidia uses different settings for each program for which it has a profile without your interference.

Griphos - that is true :D but you may want to tweak those settings as the default settings may not suit or be optimum (vsync may be one for example).
You may also want to remove one of your previous profiles for earlier versions of TS that you might have set,
That is, if you have 2 profiles for railworks.exe NVidia will always use the profile last accessed by you.
Removing an older one prevents that from happening, removing any possible conflicts.

Thanks for this helpful tip! This actually gave me smooth frame rates in the lowest since setting even with dynamic lighting on. Not sure if it boosted the other settings I don't want to try as my fragrances with drop for sure.

Hi All
I have updated my guide to using a NVidia graphics card with TS2015, with the latest GeForce driver with no corruption of the 2D Map, some shimmer, but much reduced Moire on switches (points). This works in Win 7, 8.1 and 10 64-bit.

Mine worked, on Safari browser that is.
You'll need to wait a short while for Dropbox to generate the correct link. Then you can save the .pdf.

Thanks for the guide. I am still on nVidia 350.12 drivers for my GeForce GTX770 video card. All higher drivers so far corrupted the 2D map ("9" key map)

You won't get a corrupted 2D map using these settings.

Unfortunately, my gaming computer's video card doesn't support your settings.
Here from UKTS is an alternative given for those who don't have GFX970 cards: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=361&t=143536#p1768502

I have updated my guide on how to set up TS2018 using a nVidia graphics card in nVidia Control Panel (NVCP) and nVidia Inspector (NVI) on UKTS http://www.uktrainsim.com/filelib-info. ... leid=38190 and https://www.wotawallysbits.co.uk/utilit ... -tutorials . The latter is best and free.
There is also a DSR (downsampling) guide.
Any comments please contact me. :D
