I have a good feeling this should be moved into another board.

Jean-Pierre, the Powerpoint slide show has been protected, so I can't easily translate it.

Personally, I think it doesn't need translation: the images are pretty much self-explanatory once you know they depict the construction of the new eastern high-speed line between Paris and Strasburg. There are some comments about specific machines but anyone can guess what is happening.

This is quite interesting because building a high-speed (300 km/h) line is quite different, and we don't have such a line in North America.

I have turned it into a 4,6M PDF for those who are interested.

Probably not, the first generation of TGV's were built for the PSE line and had to run under 1500 Volt DC catenary to reach smaller destinations in the south of France once off the dedicated high speed tracks which were electrified with 25000 Volt 50 Hertz AC. It might very well be the orange motor cars use DC traction motors.

The northern and eastern dedicated TGV lines extend into the old 'Nord' and 'Est' 25000 Volt AC network, so any TGV trains servicing smaller destinations in those networks don't need DC electical gear. TGV's serving Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany are either tri-courant or quadruple-courant Thalys trainsets, capable of 15000 V 16 2/3 Hz and 25000 V 50 Hz AC feed and 1800/3000 V DC feed. And they have to carry all four signalling and ATS/ATC systems as well. They are loaded with equipment and electronics.

What about 'Ouest' network, serving Quimper hub and points in Bretagne and beyond? 25 KV AC as well? TGV Atlantique trains are AC only?

Good Morning,
_o_0000_oo-Kanawha has written PSE line is Under 1500 Volt......not exactly....at the beginning , from Paris to Valenton , the TGV runs under 1500volts and just before 15 or 20 kms Lyon also.....and in all parts on high speed line , it is always 25000 volts.....today , just after Paris the TGV gets directly the hight speed line.
The SNCF mades like that , because it is cheaper to do that (one electric conductor Under 25000 volts , and 2 electric conductors Under 1500 volts in copper)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The speed line to the west is Under 25000 volts just after Montparnasse to 5kms before Le Mans station
The speed line to the south west is Under 25000 volts , just after Montparnasse to the little station Monts (not very far Tours).....and they will made the continued service , for 2016 , in speed line between Le Mans and Rennes , and St-Pierre des Corps and Bordeaux , with some connecting to La Rochelle , Poitiers , Angoulême . (they want to do Paris /Bordeaux without any stopping in 2 hours exactly ---581 kms---)
The speed line to the North is totally in 25000 volts to London and after the frontier in Belgium
The speed line to the East is totally in 25000 volts in France and they hope to finish the speed line before Saverne to Strasbourg for 2015
the speed line between Belfort an Dijon is Under 25000 volts
and finally the speed line to the South East is Under 25000 volts just after Paris Lyon and just before Marseille , except the connecting to Dijon , Lyon Part-Dieu , Nimes , Montpellier , Perpignan (the three last station named , we find 1500 volt just 10 kms before Nimes , after Passing Avignon)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
they hope to do a speed line between Nimes and Perpignan and going to Spain (the Spain part is all ready to run in TGV) , but they have some difficults to realise that (in first money.
I hope that I was enough clear for you , and again excuse my mistakes in English language
Have a good day....sincerly yours

Merci bien, Jean Pierre!

You know any good French routes? I have La Ligne du Nord on my old RW2 install, but it is very slow in FPS. I haven't continued to use it in TS2013, let alone in current TS2015.

It has those first generation center cab AC locos BB12000 "Fer à repasser" ("Clothing iron") but very few French voitures and wagons a merchandise. route looks good, buildings, track, catenary, signalling, all very French.

hello ,
I don't know your first-name.....sorry I regret that , but never mind,
so the french route "la ligne du nord" is a very heavy route , and needs many assets....and , finally , it is not finished....today , we find again a béta version...
to get a french route, may be , you can take thses one :
http://www.railsim-fr.com/forum/index.p ... owfile=794
but you must be careful , and read the manual.....the different conceptor like to built something very near the reality....and , may be , with TWTools , we can find some missed assets.
You can asked on the forum , railsim-fr , there is a special place for English language , and , now they accept the gmail link.....and you can find routes , engines , freight or passengers cars .......for the route , some body named "ZAWAL" have made some very beautiful routes , but except the signalling blocks , (remember , you must ask to register before to see the screens
and finally , you can find some french Rolling stock more here;
http://ajrailsim.free.fr/
I hope , I understand your questions , because ,my level in English is not very high

Pas de problème, Jean Pierre. Je vous comprends.

My French is rusty but I manage to find my way around the French internet dedicated to RailWorks.

Do you know what happened to Satnur's (from Lyon) route "Paris Saint Lazare" over at Trainsim.com?
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOnBKTTTjzfH-jxpdmFejIQ
http://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showthread.php?304505-Paris-Saint-Lazare
http://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showthread.php?313464-French-Route-WIP

The WIP didn't survive the transition to TS2013 and unfortunately, the resident busybody known as Ottodad got involved and messed things up.
The author then I believe got scared by the change in EULA in 2013, as he was planning to have his route released commercially.
I haven't heard anything since. That route was looking good and extremely detailed, with delicate catenary, signalisation and custom buildings.

It looks real good! Will the TVM430 in this route be compatible with the 395 and the TVM in L-F, so I can run TGVs there?

I don't think this will be put on steam, but maybe something like JustTrains. It might feature TGV Atlantique and Duplex (better than the freeware version)

Good morning,
the TVM430 will NOT work with the class395.......because these future route wiil arrive with HER own TVM.......and if I don't make any mistake , it will be TVM300.....and why justtrains ? only the author has never received any answer from DTG , if they are interested by the project.....
and repeat again , the route arrives with TGV duplex and TGV reseau......we can expect for 31 or 32 euros.....route and tgv.....
have a good day
