What number? Only one fixed number, we need to avoid conflicts with the existing roster.

As with Phil, single digits comes to mind.
Cheers!

That would be a good provenance for it, the unit would be about 20-ish years old in 1950. So, if no objections, history is written and the number is 5.

I could make a second unit, but I think it would be a surplus for the route.

Hmmmm... {sound of gears grinding here} a non-working hangar queen (spares) partially salvaged in faded ex NH livery for behind the roundhouse. *!twisted!*

It actually took the New Haven a while to get into the act. Some say they were kicking and screaming, but my sense is that's a bit overblown. The HH600s showed up in '38, and the HH660s began showing up the following year. It is said the first units were retired at the 15-18 year mark. I would guess these were HH600s with the 531 engine (which was an orphan model by '39), so it would make sense to have another one around for spare parts. The HH660s, RS-1s and S-2s (thinking ahead to dogmouse's model) all shared a 539 engine. Good provenance indeed: go for it!

I thought of the 5 number as i was thinking of the Mount Rainer Scenic Railroad's # 5, A 2-8-2. I thought of the New Haven part because i do remember seeing a NH HH660 for Railworks/

Well, the shop foreman went to an auction, and found this one. Low hours on a rebuilt 538 prime mover (blown generator) and good traction motors. Actually cost far less than a crate prime mover, and lots of spares. The organ donor is dead, and shows in the wagons section.

The windows should have been boarded up as well, but the model cut the windows right out of the wood. !*roll-laugh*!
