There's a lot of coding that needs to go into the locomotive to get the dual mode performance right... not too hopeful that they'll bother with sounds either. Expect a repaint of the P42 and not much more.

I'm not hopeful with sounds either, but I do believe they'll get the dual mode right. They did it with the M8, so I imagine they'll copy over the basic principles.

Good, those Shoreliners are basically comet cars that can be used for NJT and SEPTA service on the original NEC.

Maybe I can get my NH p32 released around the same time. Had a major problem but slowly climbing up.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but CDOT's Shoreliners don't have center doors according to CDOT's equipment book. There are center-door Comet cars with red stripes for service in the New Haven Line pool (including one of two such cab cars involved in the Spuyten Duyvil wreck), but blue-striped cars show up in Danbury as often as red-striped cars do. MNCR has tended to regard New Haven Line stock as a free-running pool to the exten that, in winter equipment shortages, M-2s have been covering service to Whte Plains. Unfortunately, the Hudson and Harlem Line EMUs can't be similarly assigned to the New Haven line in a pinch. MNCR's involvement with Comet Cars goes back to their introductin in joint service with NJT - this may have been back in the Conrail Met Region days - as a result of wich they recognised they had a good desgn with much broader application. It was an excellent decision on thier part.

New article on Engine Driver about the P32 and Shoreliner cars. The Shoreliner cab is coming along nicely as well =)

I have to agree completely! Growing up literally right next to the Harlem Line, I'm very excited to see this set come out! As well as what we have already. The cab car is definitely gorgeous, but the only downfall would be the cab itself. #'s 6301-6310 have this cab and the door next to the engineers seat. #'s 6311-6320 (as well as the red stripe CDOT cars) were ordered with a window replacing the door next to the engineer and the control stand is different as well. Namely the auto brake being replaced with something similar to what you would find on a desktop control stand. Not sure of the reasoning, but I may have to ask an MN engineer friend of mine. No biggie, but I bet posting on their Facebook page may have the chance of being seen? Just a thought.

On the P32 I can only hope that they did their homework when it comes to the sound set. It is a completely different beast compared to the P42. For one, it doesn't have the high idle (900rpm if I remember correctly) like the P42, it's somewhere around 600rpm while in HEP mode. And since they have come back from Erie after their mid-life rebuild, they have a more pronounced turbo whine also. Search YouTube to see what I'm talking about. But according to a few MN engineers, they have also become dogs too. And they weren't sporty to begin with only having just shy of 2400hp available with the HEP on. I know sounds are always an issue when it comes to new products so this is by no means an attempt to start a "sound war", it's more or less food for thought because we all know how RS/DTG is when it comes to sound.

That being said, I am very exited to see this released! Maybe sometime in the future we may see an FL-9 to add to the fleet...(wishful thinking I guess)

I don't expect anything special from stock sounds
exclusions are rare: DDA40X (gorgeous sound pack!), F59PHI and F40PH

found some P32AC-DM clip: does it always have such loud cooling fan sound ("vacuum cleaner noise") ? it's more typical for electric locos

and this one is interesting. load test in engine shop. subtle turbo spin-up and spin-down effect
