I guess I should say I'd like a Via repaint for the RSC F40PH.

Someone started a Via F40PH on the newer model but also gave up. I don't recall the original thread.
But Buzz, is it impossible to repaint the F40, or just extremely difficult along with the other new models. Just wondering.

It's impossible to do something like the Surfliner because the paint has slanted lines. The slats (verticle ribs between the doors) are represented by one place on the texture therefore if you try to put two colors on it, it will only be at the right height in one place. Al the others will be incorrect. Also, some of the 'caps' textures look to be used on both sides of the loco. Since some are forward or back of others the height od the color change will be wrong on them also. If there is a paint job of solid colors like the CSX one shown or the lines run in a straight lines then it can be painted,,,,,,,,,I think. Sucks.

I suspect that the builder has unwrapped his model using an automated function in his 3D software, instead of doing it by hand.
I know Blender has such functions and they sometimes give horrible UVmaps.

It's gonna take more than lights. The model and the cab are primitive.

Bunch of cleaning up to do and plan to alias the cab to the RSC one to take care of that issue. Will get someone to help me with the lights or will go on the learning mission again. In any event we will have a F40PH soon.

You smart enough to add the headlights for this thing with the latest and greatest? If you can you're on.
