SOO-line phase 2 release coming!

Unread postby eyein12 » Wed Jan 12, 2011 9:00 am

Hi guys,

For those who are waiting for this release its almost here(sooner than expected). I have 15 more miles and comanche completed, clinton iowa 20% done and this marks the end point of my journey for the ICE division. As promised there is plenty of yards and industry, and crossing the MISS river there is one more large yard for transfers. theoretically if you like shortline switching then clinton is gonna be your area. If you like scenic non-repetive voyages then take the trip back to davenport.

I have enclosed pics of the new content. Theres 100 more assets and I finally fixed up the H pole wire set up as you can see. High test lines will have wires too.

If you waited to see me update the soo-line heres your proof donate and get the first asset pack, the 2nd pack is free to those who've donated. Hopefully more people will donate so i can keep this project alive. thanks to those who have!

enjoy the pics and look for the release of phase 2 sometime next week after beta tests! I will upload the route to train-sim and RWA, there will be links to the freeware assets, missing assets, and donationware assets in the README this time.

Was just running version 1 to the Alcoa complex with Lord Mannu's Alco engine yesterday. Great looking route !*brav*! Looking forward to version 2. Will this be overlay version 1 or will it be in addition to version1?
If God had intended for man to fly, He wouldn't have given us the railroads.

this can be installed over top your existing one but things you may have done to the route may be overwritten. most of the work was done from princeton to clinton but just install the .rwp and click ok to overwrite and let RW do the rest!

I'd love to run this but I get an error message when I try to load V-1.1a.

Now, I wouldn't mind getting the donationware assets but I'm hesitant to spend the dough and still not have it work because of something missing elsewhere...you've indicated that the downloaded assets pack should suffice, and ScaleRoad, ScaleRail, and Rural Landscapes are in place, any thoughts?

Uploaded the error message on my web space: http://misfitforceclan.com/hl2dm/pics/s ... 0error.jpg

Did you get the assets from Golden Age? That's what I was missing and was getting the same error. It's in the Read Me file. *!!wink!!*

Are you certain of this? You were getting a message saying you were missing rail vehicles?

Perhaps I'm overlooking something, from the readme, there are two lines concerning Michael Stephan/Golden Age of Railroading:

...mike stephan for is telegraph lofts ,and other clutter items...
...golden age of rails for the freeware assets including gn telegraph poles and other various clutter...

The screenshot of the error message I uploaded only mentions not being able to load rolling stock, nothing about scenery. I think I have all of Michael's freeware rolling stock (and a bunch of his excellent payware items...well worth the small outlay!) and unless I'm totally blind, which is possible since my multiple sclerosis makes my eyeballs vibrate and I can miss fine print sometimes!...I'm not seeing anything needed I don't already have.

Experiment time: I'll go through his scenery items at Golden Age, download everything, and see if that makes a difference. It can't hurt, and his stuff is always good. Still, given that error message, I have my doubts.

The readme suggests "I would just download most freeware assets on the posted websites" but I am not gonna spend the rest of my life trawling the zillions of freeware files at TrainSim !*roll-laugh*!

Aha! I CAN load the route, just neither of the two 'free roam' scenarios with rolling stock in them.

'Free roam scenario' and 'princeton' both generate error messages, odd since I'm sure I have some of the the missing stock listed in the RW_Tools report, like the modern boxcars and 52 foot gondola payware set from Golden Age.

I'll attach the reports just for the heck of it, perhaps someone with more knowledge than my humble RW noob experience can clue me in. Meanwhile I'll have to break out the editor and make me an Amtrak passenger train to do some sightseeing in the route!

Thanks for keeping my attention focused on this...it'll be great to see some scenarios for this forthcoming !!*ok*!!

Now I'm wondering, I am pretty sure this was the route that was giving me the same errors you posted about. I know I had to get a bunch of rolling stock from Golden Age. I already had Colton and Northern. Signals and such from SMMDigital. The silos, then the cranes. Maybe Ian will come along and straighten things up.

You know what, do you have Colton and Northern? That's where the steel coil cars are from, IIRC. Possibly the other rolling stock. (Jeese, I now have so much "stuff" it gets hard to remember what came from where!)

Very nice looking route, glad I followed up with my checking!

I'm sold, I'll be purchasing the full asset pack as soon as someone comes up with a scenario for it. It was immediately obvious that stuff was missing, smoke trails in the air with no smokestacks, big open areas with lots of cars that are obviously industries, and so on.

I should have used the simplified version of David Brindley's Amtrak F40, more time for enjoying the scenery instead of fiddling with the controls, but it was fun...looking forward to the next addition to the route! !*brav*!

Nope, not yet...I bought a pretty good selection of stuff while the Steam sale was happening, it's over now and on fixed disability income I can't spend like a drunken sailor. No worries, I don't doubt other sales will happen.

Which one on the selection menu finally worked? I seem to be getting that same error you got:

and I know I had one of the scenarios working last week. *sigh* CRS sets in early some days, waits until the evening some days. !!jabber!!

Those two. Just add something to drive in the ones that have no vehicles.

I'm going to be a very happy camper when someone who knows what they're doing comes up with some good scenarios for this one!

Only the Princeton scenario loads and works for me. I have deleted all the other free roaming scenartios. But the one working scenario shows what's in store for us and that's exciting!

hey guys thanks for your excitement! As I mentioned in the readme, just create your own free roam scenario for now. yes theres things missing in those scenarios because of the rolling stock, I used those scenarios as working points for me. If you open up the route and create a free roam youre golden. I never intended to have scenarios in the first release. I apologize for the sloppy release, the next one will be alot cleaner and simplified!

next as far as future "default stock" scenarios I plan to have a couple working ones so you can navigate the route efficiently. This next section makes the route amazing in my opinion. should be ready by monday or tuesday
