I just joined the forum a few days ago. I had just purchased Rich Garber’s Ohio Steel and found a great recommendation of the Railworks America forum on the last page of his Ohio Steel manual. Thanks a million for this heads up, Rich! !*salute*!

I'm new to Railworks/Railsim and to this forum so I thought I should introduce myself. A long-time model railroader and user of MSTS. This RS software has renewed my interest in "virtual" railroading and the work done by so many contributors is really amazing. I look forward to learning this new environment and participating in the community.

Cheers!

Hi Folks, another newbie to rail sims here. Just got Railworks2 and am enjoying it very much. I am not a poster but a lurker and this looked like the nicest place to lurk. :D

I'm a new Railworks user, just bought the sim last week. I am a sim fan, playing many flight sims and some road sims, but this would be my first rail sim. There is a certain elegance to driving these beasts, no level of freedom from the tracks, but hard to master. I find the steam engines infuriating at times, especially when I am trying to do a career mode scenario and I mess up and lose pressure.

Anyway I am lurking away and enjoying a lot of the older material here.

Yeah, I have a hard time with the steam engines as well. I just need more knowledge and practice... I hope. :D

Hi folks, I've been lurking long enough I suppose! *!lol!*

A few may know my username from the trainz forum, I have since switched to RW for sometime now and am enjoying the sim immensely!

I'm a model railroader also, mostly in the winter months and a long time sim fan, FSX, Silent Hunter etc.
My main love is the steam era or transition era, great site by the way. Keep up the great work!

Happy Holidays,

Lorin

Hi Guys Beakie here....

I had been a MSTS driver back in the day and had done very little with Trainz 2006. When I Felt the urge to ride the virtual Rails once again. So I went out and bought a retail copy of Trainz 2010 Engineer's Edition and literally spent 9 hours trying to Instal it and get it to run and I finally decided to give up on my now fading dreams of driving any trains.

When the very next Day I see RW2 on Steam for Sale, for 85% off. So I figured it was worth a shot at $6.00 So I bought and it worked the first Time no disappearing Tutorials no corrupt Content Database like that other Sim.....

I'm very very happy with my purchase and am having a ball trying to figure how to run the trains... So after wasting $35.00 on TS2010 EE. RW2 at $6.00 is the one I should of bought at the start. Who would of thought....

I have no idea whether I will ever truly understand enough of this Program to make a Route but who knows, (I do have some vague ideas in the back of my mind).

But I plan on Lurking here to soak up all the info on this great Sim and Maybe I will speak up now and then....

Aw go ahead and dive in Beakie and make a test route. If I can do it you can too. I'm having a ball placing buildings and planting trees then climbing in an engine and driving to wherever and just looking at the scenery. :D

I wanted to post a quick hello to everyone! My name is Ken, though everyone calls me KP, and I'm a new train simmer. I've been a flight simmer for almost 10 years and enjoy it, but have wanted to try the train sims again after a brief foray into MSTS a few years ago. I couldn't pass up the chance to by RW2 at 50% off this week, so I bought it and I arrived here soon after.

My family has a small bit of history in the railroad business. My grandpa was a track foreman for the Illinois Central many years ago (he passed away in 1981). I was raised with an appreciation for trains and model railroading, but have no room for a model layout these days (ask my wife, I already have enough other stuff LOL). I was once a member of the Indiana Railway Museum in French Lick, IN and got the chance to ride in their steam engine once, along with rides in the diesel.

Anyway, to make a long story even longer, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I look forward to being a member here.

Howdy, all! Also new to this forum and RailWorks (85% off sale was too good to pass up!). Diddled for a long time with MSTS, loving it when it worked and cursing everyone from Bill Gates to Casey Jones when it didn't. So far, I'm impressed with RailWorks...graphics are great, the software installed and ran, first time, without a hitch...manuals are well-written and informative (yes, as a one-time US Navy technician, I *do* read the manuals! !*salute*! ), although they could be a bit more in-depth.

Only slight complaint (from over across the pond) is the obvious (and, understandable) "bias" towards UK routes...on the other hand, since I've always had a preference for passenger-trains, I'm quite enjoying the process of learning about UK passenger traffic, particularly on the Oxford-Paddington route...figuring out the differences between FGW, GW, BR, etc., etc., etc., may take some time, too.

Glad to find a friendly forum...hope to be fairly active here!
