Please help! How to make a not train selectable?

Unread postby ManoelBlack5 » Fri Aug 24, 2012 9:00 am

Hello all! In my freeroam scenario, put a train controlled by the computer (AI), but the only problem is that I can select it! In case I could not select this train. This would be controlled by the computer.
How do I block a train? For that I can not control it?
Thank you in advance, and await answers!

I do not think that is possible but I could be wrong. AI trains in a freeroam scenario will be a very hard thing to do. Well not hard to do but to get them to work proper may be hard because in a freeroam you are not subject to be anywhere at any certain time so to get an ai meet is difficult

@Manoel, you cannot eventually block an AI in this case once as soon as you leave it Dispatcher will take the control back (according to the timetable instructions) and continue to move the train till its final destination. Whether you don't want that train moving, just do not add the Driver icon to it.

It's hard (especially when testing) but possible. The meetings are not hard at all, whether you are working in a double track mainline, for example.

Frank (wackyhuman) has created a standart scenario with no Player train (is quite the same of a freeroam with AI trains, except for the junctions control) with 30 AI trains, you can jump into any of them when close to you. The only concern is about fps, which drops a lot with such intense traffic.

But if I do not add the driver icon, how will I get the computer to control the train?
It really is not possible to make an AI controlling the train, but I can not control it?

Machinist, i see your profile photo(e você é brasileiro também né?) It is one of the locomotives of Brazil, Minas Gerais, São João del Rei, right? I know, because I am Brazilian and I live in São João del Rei, the only city in the world that has the 2-8-0 and 4-6-0, and 4-4-0 American History, gauge 76mm.
No wonder I love steam locomotives and rail simulator game since 2008, and now, in rail works, because I grew up here, since childhood, loved playing on the tracks, the locomotive whistled 68.
It's too good, so I have this passion for trains, because my town has this story. Many of my family were part of EFOM - Estrada Ferroviária Oeste de Minas. My uncles, grandparents worked in construction, and also on the railroad. Anyway, it's a great honor to live here!
Regards, Manoel Victor.

That's the prime choice you have to do: whether you wanna the train controlled by game (when you are not driving it, game will take the control); or whether you wanna the train as a static consist.
In the second case you can still ride and control the train, at any time, and when you leave it, it will stop and remain stopped at the location you left it. Maybe that's what you are aiming to. Give it a try.

WOW very nice! !*cheers*! I didn't noticed your avatar before, and due to your name I thought you were Portuguese, not a brazooka! !*roll-laugh*!

Yep I've already been at there and ride the train, my dream is run one of the engines (as I've already done in Porto Velho, with the historical Madeira-Mamoré steam), maybe some day, eh? When a Baldwin descendent came to Brazil (I guess in 70's years) he stated it was the largest and well preserved narrow gauge's Baldwin's Steams collection in the World. The small route (according to the museum release) is still the oldest narrow gauge in continous operation in the World, as it was created about 1875, IIRC, same layout etc.

Hope to meet you at São João Del Rey, someday! !!*ok*!! I would be very glad if you invite me to ride the cab as a foamer, at least! *!twisted!* !*roll-laugh*!

Um grande abraço (a big hug, as we say in Brazil).

Hmm, what I'm trying to do is just let the computer controlling a certain train, while I control the other, just as I can not take control of the train that the computer is controlling.
Can not?
Um abraço também!

Now I got what you are meaning... yes you can take the control of any other AI train which the game is controlling: just click on any part of consist, at any time, since you are close enough to it; or clicking in the pop up in the upper right corner saying a train is available (approaching) to you jump into it.

Abraços,
Doc.

Yes, this is precisely the problem, I wanted to block, I can not control the train controlled by the computer.
Him to be locked, so I can not control it.
