Please don't. The argument over DLC pricing has been rehashed to death.

In a year or so, the deepest discount you could probably expect to see is 50% during a steam sale, making it $19.99 as opposed to the $26 intro price.

I live 5 miles from the Boynton Beach Tri-Rail station, and I absolutely love this. My only legitimate complaint is the lack of Tri-Rail equipment, but I understand the limitation with licensing so I won't raise a fit. The detail they have included has astonished me; there are certain things I thought for sure would be overlooked. I also never thought I'd see the day where DTG would model Viewliners, and even more so a Heritage Diner! There are few things as exciting as having your hometown route modeled to smallest detail. 'fecrails' put it perfectly:

Why would DTG make this route, or anything for that matter free then? It's just another fake American holiday that few people know, much less care about. For me, every day is national train day. :P

Don't worry. An F40PHL is in the works, and hopefully we will get a Brookville BL36PH and Rotem Bilevels as a DLC pack in the near future.

Glad to see you're still involved with the route creating side of things young Bob, seems as though the locals have given this a big thumbs up, it only seems like yesterday that The Woodhead Line was released, from dirty coal pits to flashy motor boats, seems like you're going up in the world. !!*ok*!!

Dovetail Games did in fact offer a complementary copy of the Pacific Surfliner route as a stand-alone game to those who visited the Train Simulator booth on National Train Day at Penn Station in New York last May. The event was packed with visitors, there was a long line to try Train Simulator all day, and hundreds of young people were introduced to train-simming and got a chance to run trains on the then-new NY-NH route.

I think people who do not know what they are talking about should be quiet. There are at least 20 people here at RWA who are beta testers, including me. And there are at least another 120 of us from around the world. You have no idea how many projects are in WIP or what else is going on. We are only beta testers. We do not have control over what is released, all we do is report our findings and DTG takes over from there. So get these thoughts out of your mind as it just ain't so.

Well Bob... the lack of transparency and communication is why people like me don't know what we are talking about. You think if I email DTG asking them if it's the beta testers or DTG themselves that are to blame for obviously flawed content being consistently released.....that I'm gonna get an answer? Not gonna happen. Because of this, we are left to speculate and anger some in the process by doing so.

With sports teams there is a win column and a loss column to gauge success. The indication of a team doing better is when the wins increase and the losses decrease. Based on the track record of DLC releases, DTG's win column isn't increasing. And there is past stuff that still isn't fixed. That is our frustration..... that things don't seem to be getting better over time. They are either as bad as they have always been or in some cases worse. And having all the beta testers in the world doesn't matter if the content keeps being released with obvious flaws. That's all I'm saying. We keep wondering when things are gonna start to get better.

I try to not be vocal. I really do.

I am one of the largest critics of some of the decision making internally and I believe it doesn't make me much friends in the towers, nor does posting publically.

In my time aboard I have seen good and bad. My only critique that I repeatedly bring up is that it seems decisions for making DLC isn't always properly researched prior to just jumping in. There have been times where they have pulled it off well, and times which seems to be lately, the brash decision making bites them in the butt. But my whole ordeal is I wouldn't critique or make public posts that are in opposition of what the company wants to hear or the community to hear, simply because I care. I want to see this simulator be a simulator that the community of MSTS set out to make that old sim to be, not some arcade-y game. That's not to say it can't be both, but I have always had a drive to make the most IMMERSIVE experience, wether that be audio, visuals, or the gameplay itself. However, I only had the tools to do parts of that, not the sum, so I sought to become part of something bigger.

Hopefully this sheds some light on my drive for the game, as well as hopefully drive the community to drive the company to do the same as well.

I'm by no means an admin or even an outstanding member in this community, but I will briefly say this:

DTG did a great job with this route. It looks beautiful. I have a few criticisms, but nothing that is worth publicly mentioning because nothing good would come from that. Having said that, this thread should be a place where we can talk about this route. It's my hometown route, and the direction this thread is going does not give justice for the great job DTG did. I guess if there is a specific complaint someone has about the route, then this is the place to post it. But talking about DTG in general should be somewhere else.

Deleted - ended up buying both the route and using a coupon on GMG to pick up the CSX SD80 for 7.50.

The route looks great from the feedback I've heard and the whole route videos I've seen. My knock isn't on the route. The only route I can remember ever having been universally panned was Donner Pass v1.0 and that was thankfully fixed by them with a whole new rework in the v2.0 of it. Their problems seem to be with North American locomotive DLC. I can't comment on the European locomotives, but they seem to get those pretty spot on for the most part.

Since the issues are with rolling stock included with this route and not standalone DLC, the discussion ends up here. The route itself isn't being indicted, just the rolling stock.
